Abstract: In an example, a wireless client station detects a first signal emitted by a first wireless access point and a second signal emitted by a second wireless access point. The wireless client station extracts a first set of data indicative of the signal strength and network congestion of the first wireless access point and a second set of data indicative of the signal strength and network congestion of the second wireless access point. The wireless client station then computes a first performance metric of first wireless access point, based on the first set of data, and a second performance metric of the second wireless access point, based on the second set of data. The wireless client station determines that the first performance metric is greater than the second performance metric and initiates a connection to the first wireless access point in response.

Abstract: A technique includes identifying a cellular communication frequency band and a wireless local area network communication channel being used by a wireless station. Based on the identified cellular communication frequency band and wireless local area network communication channel, assignment of the wireless local area network communication channel is regulated to inhibit interference due to the concurrent use of the cellular communication frequency band and the wireless local area network communication channel. The regulation of the assignment includes using the wireless station to determine whether to reassign the wireless local area network communication channel.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a compact antenna system within a dielectric housing of an electronic device, capable of achieving improved reflection performance. The antenna system includes a ground plane and an antenna PCB. An antenna microstrip feed on a side of the antenna PCB comprises a first part of a radiating antenna element. The antenna PCB is connected to the ground plane by a central conductor of a coaxial cable which forms a ground path. An outer conductor of the coaxial cable carries RF signals to the antenna PCB, allowing the RF signals to freely radiate along a length of the coaxial cable and acting as a second part of the radiating antenna element. The coaxial cable does not interfere with, and can even enhance a radiation pattern of the antenna microstrip feed.
