摘要： An image scanning apparatus includes a transport roller transporting an original, a CCD scanning a first side of the original, a CIS scanning unit scanning a second side of the original, and a flap for reversing the original and sending the original to a transport path. A CPU controls the transport roller, the CCD and the CIS scanning unit to scan each side of the original. The CPU determines from the result of scanning whether or not each side of the original includes a predetermined pattern. When the CPU cannot identify from the result of scanning of the second side whether or not the second side includes a predetermined pattern, the CPU controls the flap and a transport unit to reverse the original and cause the CCD to scan the second side.

摘要： An image reading device includes a transport unit for transporting a document, a scanner for scanning image data of the document transported by the transport unit, and a controller for controlling the image reading device. The controller extracts a plurality of one-character areas included in the image data, recognizes character data of each of the extracted one-character areas, determines presence or absence of line noise based on a result of recognition of each of the one-character areas, and displays presence of the line noise on an operation panel when it is determined that there is the line noise.

摘要： A multibeam scanning optical apparatus incluses a controller which specifies laser diodes which are emitting light normally and arranged in a continuous row, a memory having a plurality of area in which image data are stored, a write-in controller which causes image data for each line to be written into only areas of memory corresponding to the specified laser diodes when any of the laser diodes suffers a failure, a read-out controller which causes the image data for each line to be read out simultaneously from the areas of memory corresponding to the specified laser diodes and a driver which performs light emission control only with respect to the specified laser diodes.

摘要： A data processing device connected to a network and an external memory device stores data in a memory area of the external memory device. Image data and the like are transferred and stored in the memory area of an external memory device, and the data name and storage destination of the stored data are recorded on a portable memory medium. This portable memory medium can be used to simply and easily manage the data location and the like at any time. Since the data name and storage destination are recorded in the portable memory medium, there is less concern that the data name and storage destination will become known to users other than the user possessing the portable memory medium, thus ensuring data security compared to when such data are stored in the data processing device. Moreover, because there is no need to store the data name and storage destination in the data processing device, the complex controls required for displaying the stored data names and the like on the display panel are unnecessary.

摘要： An image read apparatus includes a group of CCDs reading out a document image, a data processing unit, a line buffer to delay data to obtain data of the same pixel, a comparison unit comparing data of the same pixel, a data table in which a threshold value that becomes the reference of comparison is stored in correspondence with each type of mode, a threshold value set unit referring to the data table to set the threshold value, a determination unit receiving the comparison result with the threshold value from the comparison unit to determine and control data to be sent downstream, and an averaging unit averaging the data sent from the determination unit to output the average as image data. An image read apparatus is provided that can prevent generation of a black streak or a white streak on a readout image caused by the presence of dust at the readout position, and that can improve the picture quality of the entire image.

摘要： During reading process, an image reading unit read a white pressing plate (reference member) under a state where no original exists between the white pressing plate and an original glass plate. On the basis of the read image data, it is judged whether dirt is detected on the glass plate or not. If dirt is detected, a page in which a black line appears is determined. Information of the page is displayed on a display section. An original of the page is reread by the image reading unit.
