    摘要： A muting circuit for a television receiving set comprises a mute-judging part, a mute key input, an acoustic output circuit, a caption-judging part, and a caption key input. The mute-judging partenters a mute ON and a mute OFF state alternately every time it receives a mute key input signal. The acoustic output circuit reduces the sound output level to zero decibels at the mute ON state, and restores the sound output at the mute OFF state. The caption-judging part enters a caption ON state and caption OFF state alternately every time it receives a caption key input signal while it enters a caption ON state if the mute-judging part enters a mute ON state. Thus, in the mute ON stated the closed caption is displayed on the screen.

    摘要： In a broadcast receiving device, a broadcast signal of a data broadcast program that is tuned in to by a tuner is demodulated into a transport stream by a demodulator, and a data broadcast content is acquired by an information acquisition unit from the demodulated transport stream. The acquired data broadcast content is stored in a storage device, and a data broadcast screen based on the stored data broadcast content is presented by an information presentation unit. When a reception state is a poor state, a presentation state of the data broadcast screen is held by the information presentation unit. When the reception state changes from the poor state to a good state and the data broadcast programs received in the good states before and after the poor state are the same, the presentation of the data broadcast screen based on the stored data broadcast content is restarted by the information presentation unit.

    摘要： A memory device for channel selection in a television receiver comprises a nonvolatile memory for storing at least one set of channel data and channel attendant data, and a RAM having a channel data storing part which accesses and stores all channel data stored in the nonvolatile memory. When a read tuning command is given, the nonvolatile memory is accessed in order to search addresses of the channel attendant data if a specified channel exists in the RAM. When no specified channel data exists in the RAM, the nonvolatile memory is not accessed.
