This makes it possible to prevent central voids in a black-line image. In a black-line image transferred onto a transfer medium by this full-color image forming apparatus, not only are central voids eliminated, but degradation of image quality is also prevented.

During image formation, the control portion rotates the motor in the first rotation direction, and when a replacement mode is set in which the development unit is demounted from the apparatus main body so as to be replaced, the control portion rotates the motor in the second rotation direction so that the developer bearing member is rotated by a predetermined amount in a direction reverse to a direction in which the developer bearing member is rotated during the image formation.
