    摘要: In image formation of a black-line image, the image is developed with black toner, and in addition parts of the black-line image corresponding to an intersection between at least two black lines and a middle portion of a black line are developed with toner of at least one of cyan, yellow, and magenta colors overlaid. This makes it possible to prevent central voids in a black-line image. In a black-line image transferred onto a transfer medium by this full-color image forming apparatus, not only are central voids eliminated, but degradation of image quality is also prevented.

    摘要: In an image forming apparatus that uses toners of a plurality of different colors, amorphous toner is used during image forming with a first color. Then, a controller, by using a toner remaining-removing switching device, causes toner scraped off from an image carrier by a blade during cleaning to remain at a predetermined region near the blade. Spherical toner is used during image forming with a second color and thereafter. The controller switches the toner remaining-removing switching device during any one of processes starting from the process of the second color until the end of image formation to remove toner remaining at the predetermined region, and the toner subsequently scraped off, from the image carrier.

    摘要: A low cost image forming apparatus can be provided in which the amount of remaining toner of each color in each development apparatus can be detected by a single detection sensor device and at the same time whether the development apparatus is attached to or detached from the image forming apparatus can be discerned by the detection sensor device. The image forming apparatus includes development apparatuses for each color for developing an electrostatic latent image and supply of the developer is controlled based on the detected amount of toner in each of the development apparatuses. The detection sensor device includes a light emitting member and a light receiving member which receives the light emitted from the light emitting member and output a detection signal in accordance with the intensity of received light. Each of the development apparatuses has a light path member or members and the light emitted from the light emitting member advances through the light path member or members in which the light is formed into a light different in pattern with respect to each development apparatus. Therefore, the development apparatus brought to the developing position can be discerned and the amount of toner in the development apparatus can be determined based on the detection signal, thereby supply of developer to the development apparatus is controlled.

    摘要: A cleaning unit that performs image formation by use of an amorphous and spherical toners of a plurality of different colors and sequentially performs cleaning for each of the colors has: toner remaining-removing switching means that is provided upstream of a blade in the rotation direction of an image carrier and that permits switching such that a toner scraped off remains at a region where the blade and the image carrier make contact with each other or the toner is removed from the region; and a controller for controlling switching made by the toner remaining-removing switching means. The process by use of the amorphous toner is first performed. The controller switches the toner remaining-removing switching means to make a scraped off toner remain at the region during the cleaning in the first process and maintains the toner remaining on the region, and thereafter switches the toner remaining-removing switching means to make a scraped off toner removed from the region during the cleaning starting from a process using any of the spherical toners until the end of the image formation.

    摘要: A photosensitive drum 18 is provided to carry electrostatic latent images. Developers 23K through 23Y supply toner to the electrostatic latent images formed on the photosensitive drum 18. Images formed on the photosensitive drum 18 are transferred to an intermediate transfer belt 12. A primary transfer roller 16 transfers toner images formed on the photosensitive drum 18 onto the intermediate transfer belt 12. The secondary transfer roller 7 transfers toner images on the intermediate transfer belt 12 onto sheets. The belt cleaning unit 17 has a fur brush 32 that electrically recovers toner, and recovers residual transfer toner remaining on the intermediate transfer belt 12 after a secondary transfer by the secondary transfer roller 7. The drive roller 13 is disposed in a position in opposition to the fur brush 32 sandwiching the intermediate transfer belt 12, and charges both the fur brush 32 and the secondary transfer roller 7.
