摘要: A process for manufacturing a carbon fiber having a fiber diameter of 0.001 to 5 μm and a narrow fiber size distribution, and a resin composition suitable for the manufacture of a carbon fiber. A resin composition comprising 100 parts by weight of a thermoplastic resin, 1 to 150 parts by weight of a carbon precursor organic compound (A) and 0.001 to 40 parts by weight of acopolymer of polymer segments (e1) and (e2) which satisfy a specific range of surface tension for the thermoplastic resin and a specific range of surface tension for the carbon precursor organic compound (A) at the same time. A process for manufacturing a carbon fiber, comprising the steps of producing a molded article of a precursor fiber (B) by treating the resin composition, subjecting the carbon precursor organic compound (A) contained in the precursor fiber (B) to a stabilization treatment so as to produce a stabilized precursor fiber (C), removing the thermoplastic resin contained in the stabilized precursor fiber (C), and carbonizing or graphitizing a fibrous carbon precursor (D) obtained by removing the thermoplastic resin.

摘要: A composite fiber, which includes: 100 parts by weight of a wholly aromatic polyamide mainly including structural units of the following formulae (A) and (B): —NH—Ar1—NH—  (A) —OC—Ar2—CO—  (B) where in the formulae (A) and (B), Ar1 and Ar2 each independently represent a bivalent aromatic group having 6 to 20 carbon atoms; and 0.01 to 100 parts by weight of carbon nanotubes with an average diameter of 300 nm or less, and an average aspect ratio of 5.0 or more, characterized in that the carbon nanotubes are oriented in the fiber axis direction. It is excellent in mechanical characteristics.

摘要: A blood dialyzer is produced by a process in which a plurality of artificial composite fibers having core portions consisting of a water-insoluble core liquid and surrounded by sheath portions consisting of a fiber-forming polymer are subjected to a removal of almost all of the core liquid; the resultant hollow fibers are bundled; the hollow fiber bundle is packed in a cylindrical case having open end; end portions of spaces left between the hollow fibers peripheries and between the hollow fibers and the inside surface of the cylindrical case are sealed with a bonding material, to fix the hollow fiber bundle to the cylindrical case at the end portions thereof; and the hollow fibers in the cylindrical case are cleaned with a cleaning liquid comprising at least one aliphatic monohydric alcohol having 3 to 8 carbon atoms.
