    摘要: A lighting device configured to efficiently combine light beams emitted from a plurality of light sources, and to emit high output light while minimizing light loss, and a projection type display apparatus including the lighting device. The lighting device includes: a first light source and a second light source; two converging lenses for converging light beams emitted from the first and second light sources; two right-angle prisms for bending the light beams emitted from the first and second light sources; and a composite rod integrator for combining the light beams emitted from the first and second light sources. Between an exit surface of each right-angle prism and an incident surface of the composite rod integrator, a predetermined air gap is provided. The focal point of each converging lens is located on an incident surface of each right-angle prism.

Fluorescent material layer is formed on each side of a glass substrate of a fluorescent plate so as to interpose a reflective film therebetween. The first optical system optically guides, to a rod integrator, red and blue LED light, and green fluorescence that is generated by excitation occurring when blue laser light emitted from the solid-state light source unit is applied to the fluorescent material layer on one surface of the fluorescent plate, and that is emitted in the −X direction.     摘要: A multiple-lights-combining illumination device includes multiple light sources, multiple sub-rod integrators that respectively guide light from the multiple light sources, and a main rod integrator that guides light from the multiple sub-rod integrators. Each of the sub-rod integrators has reflection surfaces that are parallel to each other in a longitudinal direction, and has an entrance surface and an exit surface that are parallel or perpendicular to each other at ends thereof, the main rod integrator has reflection surfaces that are parallel to each other in a longitudinal direction, and has an entrance surface and an exit surface that are perpendicular to the reflection surfaces at ends thereof, and each reference optical axis that passes through an optical centroid portion of a light-emitting part of the light sources along a light emission direction is arranged so as to pass through substantially a center of the entrance surface of the respective sub-rod integrator. It is possible to use efficiently light while obtaining high intensity by combining light from multiple light sources, and furthermore possible to obtain a small and inexpensive device.
