The magnetic recording medium includes a magnetic layer containing ferromagnetic powders dispersed in a binder formed on the nonmagnetic support, wherein the biaxially oriented aromatic support has a ratio of the loss tangent at a temperature of 40° C. to the loss tangent at a temperature of 100° C. of 0.7 or higher.

    摘要: A cleaning medium for magnetic recording devices comprises a non-magnetic substrate and a lower coating layer, which is overlaid upon the non-magnetic substrate and primarily contains a binder and non-magnetic inorganic particles dispersed in the binder. The cleaning medium also comprises a cleaning layer, which is overlaid upon the lower coating layer and contains a binder and inorganic particles dispersed in the binder, the inorganic particles at least containing ferromagnetic particles. The thickness of the cleaning layer falls within the range of 0.05 .mu.m to 1.0 .mu.m, and the squareness ratio of the cleaning layer falls within the range of 0.6 to 0.98. The cleaning medium yields little wear of magnetic heads, has good cleaning characteristics, and is capable of trueing up the shape of an end of a cleaned magnetic head into a sharp shape, such that the compatibility of the magnetic head with both of a metal evaporated tape and a metal powder tape in coming into close and uniform contact with the tapes may be kept good.

    摘要: A magnetic recording medium prepared by a process which comprises providing a nonmagnetic layer comprising a nonmagnetic powder and a binder on a nonmagnetic support, and then providing one or more magnetic layers containing at least a ferromagnetic powder and a binder on the nonmagnetic layer while the nonmagnetic layer is wet, wherein the thickness of the magnetic layer is from 0.07 to 0.20 .mu.m, the magnetic layer comprises a resin curable by a polyisocyanate as a binder, the nonmagnetic layer is a layer cured by a polyisocyanate, and the ratio N/Fe in the magnetic layer is from 0.010 to 0.090 as determined by an X-ray photoelectric spectrophotometer; and a magnetic recording medium comprising a nonmagnetic support having thereon a lower nonmagnetic layer comprising a nonmagnetic powder and a binder, and further thereon a magnetic layer comprising at least a ferromagnetic metal powder and a binder, wherein the magnetic layer has a thickness of from 0.07 to 0.20 .mu.m, the magnetic layer has a maximum magnetic flux density Bm of from 3,700 to 6,000 G as measured in an external magnetic field of 10 kOe, the magnetic layer has a coercive force Hc of from 2,000 to 3,000 Oe, the magnetic layer has a center line surface roughness Ra of from 1.0 to 3.0 nm, and the nonmagnetic support has a center line surface roughness of from 0.5 to 7.0 nm on the side thereof to which the lower non layer is provided.

    摘要: A magnetic recording medium comprises a non-magnetic substrate, a lower coating layer, which is overlaid upon the non-magnetic substrate and primarily contains a binder and inorganic particles dispersed in the binder, and a magnetic layer, which is overlaid upon the lower coating layer and is constituted of at least a single layer. The magnetic layer contains at least a binder and ferromagnetic metal particles dispersed in the binder. The thickness of the magnetic layer falls within the range of 0.05 .mu.m to 0.5 .mu.m. The surface roughness of a top magnetic layer is at most 3 nm. The lower coating layer contains a fatty acid. An increase in the number of small protrusions, which have a height of at least 30 nm, does not occur substantially on the surface of the magnetic layer after the magnetic recording medium has been stored for seven days under environmental conditions of a temperature of 60.degree. C. and a relative humidity of 90%.

    摘要: A magnetic recording medium comprising a non-magnetic support having at least two magnetic layers formed thereon, the at least two magnetic layers being formed by providing, in sequence, a first magnetic layer containing first ferromagnetic powder and a first binder on a surface of the non-magnetic support and then providing a second magnetic layer containing a second binder and second ferromagnetic powder while the first layer is in a wet state, the first magnetic layer containing the first binder in an amount of 10 to 27 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the first ferromagnetic powder, the second magnetic layer containing the second binder in an amount of 14 to 30 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the second ferromagnetic powder, the amount of the first binder contained in the first magnetic layer being smaller than that of the second binder contained in the second magnetic layer with a difference therebetween being from 0.5 to 10 parts by weight, and a ratio (A/B) of a dry thickness (A) of the first magnetic layer to a dry thickness (B) of the second magnetic layer being from 0.5 to 3.2. The magnetic recording medium is excellent in electromagnetic conversion characteristics and running stability.
