摘要: Before a reset operation in which a threshold voltage Vth of an organic light emitting diode (OLED) driving thin film transistor (TFT) is compensated is performed by a first reset TFT switch, a second reset TFT switch is turned on to apply a reset reference potential to a gate of the OLED driving TFT. Accordingly, an operation point of the OLED driving TFT can be stably set even when a power supply is low. In the reset operation, it is unnecessary to close a lighting TFT switch and cause an OLED element to emit light, whereby constant can be improved.

摘要: A data driver circuit which enables the square measure of the non-display areas of image display devices to be reduced is to be provided. The driver circuit has two DA converters which convert the digital signals, in accordance with more significant bits thereof, into analog voltages; a voltage divider which divides the output voltages of the two DA converters in accordance with less significant bits of the signals; and a shift register which generates trigger signals in synchronism with the digital signals. The voltage divider, arranged in the gap between the two DA converters, comprises memory elements arrayed in two-dimensional matrixes, and a plurality of resistive wirings. The memory elements store decoded signals generated by the decoders in synchronism with the trigger signals, and selectively supply, in accordance with the decoded signals stored by the memory elements, the divided voltages which derive from the two DA converters and are generated on the resistive wirings.

摘要: To shorten the measuring time of the characteristics of light emission of OLED elements for feedback to image data for image display in an organic EL display device. Pixels that emit red lights, pixels that emit green lights, and pixels that emit blue lights are arranged on a screen in a matrix manner. A detection system is provided on the upper side of the screen. A detection line extending from the detection system is coupled to the respective pixels through analog switches and digital switches controlled by switch controlling lines. A detection scanning circuit is provided on the right side of the screen. Detection switch controlling lines extend from the detection scanning circuit. By appropriately selecting the analog switches, the switch controlling lines, and the detection switch controlling lines, the voltage-current characteristics of plural pixels are measured at the same time.

摘要: In organic EL display apparatuses, when the reset operating time required for compensating variations in the OLED drive TFT voltage threshold is too short then fluctuations in the threshold voltage Vth cannot be corrected and an accurate gray scale is impossible. A precharge voltage is supplied from the precharge TFT switch prior to the reset TFT switch and the light TFT switch resetting the Vth of the OLED driver TFT, in order to apply a specified voltage value to the gate voltage of the OLED driver TFT prior to reset. The voltage potential on the gate of the OLED driver TFT prior to reset is therefore no longer an undetermined voltage potential so variations in the gate voltage after reset are suppressed and variations in the gray scale are suppressed.

摘要: When an organic EL display apparatus enables display of a standard luminance mode and a high luminance mode, it takes long time to reset the gate potential of the OLED drive TFT to a given value in a standard mode. In the reset operation of the gate potential of an OLED drive TFT at the time of writing an image signal, in a standard mode, a precharge current is allowed to flow in the OLED element for a short period before the reset operation to set an initial value of the gate potential of the OLED drive TFT to be close to a supply potential or a reference potential. With the above operation, the variation of the OLED drive TFT gate potential after resetting is reduced. As a result, the light emitting period during one frame can be extended. Also, since a blanking period can be extended, it is possible to measure the characteristic of the OLED element by using the blanking period.

摘要: In an organic EL display, correction is made for a difference in screen luminance between the case of measuring characteristics of OLED elements, and the case of not measuring the characteristics of the OLED elements.
