摘要： In a tape cartridge of the single-reel type having a hub on which a length of tape is wound, a brake mechanism contained in the hub is movable up and down to apply and release the brake on the tape reel. The brake mechanism and a brake lock release member disposed between it and the hub remain in sliding engagement after the release of the brake, and the resulting friction hampers smooth turning of the hub. Moreover, after the brake lock has been released, the center of the tape reel can be off the center of a rotating shaft of a recorder. The hub of the tape reel has holes formed in its bottom wall for engagement with the brake release plate, the brake release plate is mounted in the hub with legs fitted in the holes of the latter, the brake lock rests on the brake release plate, the brake lock is formed with a dent (or lug) with a spherical end and the brake release plate is formed with a corresponding lug (or dent) with a spherical end on its upper surface. A highly slippery sheet member is interposed between the contacting parts of the brake lock and the brake release plate.

摘要： A tape cartridge having an identification hole for the prevention of accidental removal of recorded information or for no erasing formed in a housing of the cartridge and an additional identification hole formed in the vicinity of the first hole for a different purpose, both of the holes being adapted to engage with a no-erasing member which opens or closes the same. The no-erasing member when incorporated in the cartridge is able to open or close the no-erasing identification hole depending on the position of the member itself while normally closing the different-purpose identification hole and, when not incorporated in the cartridge, it allows the different-purpose identification hole to remain open whereby the tape cartridge is identified to be a different one. The two identification holes may be united into one. The different-purpose identification hole may be a hole intended for the identification of a cleaning cartridge.

摘要： In a tape cassette, a reel brake member has an opening hole portion for insertion of a brake release member on a device side, and a guide recessed portion for guiding the brake release member is formed in a central portion of an abutment side wall portion of the brake release member in the opening hole portion. This guide recessed portion is formed in the abutment side wall portion of the brake release member in a vertical direction in a central portion of the opening hole portion, and an internal surface of the guide recessed portion is formed into a U-shaped groove having a curved surface. Arms are provided on sides of a main body of a reel brake member via hinge portions, and a brake pawl is provided at a distal end of the respective brake pawls. An opening hole is formed for insertion of a brake release operation member provided on a device side. In addition, upper surface portion and lower surface portion are provided which are adapted to abut with and slide over internal surfaces of upper and lower cases. Recessed portions are provided on the upper surface portion on both sides of a front side at positions corresponding to outer circumferential edges of the tape reels, and a butt recessed portion is provided on a front side of the lower surface portion so as to correspond to holding ribs provided along tape reel receiving areas on a front side of a reel brake sliding area.

摘要： In a tape cartridge which turnably holds within a housing a single tape reel on which a length of tape is wound, the tape reel consisting of an upper flange, a lower flange, and a hub which is open at top and is closed at the bottom, the hub having a metal disk in the center of the outer bottom surface and teeth formed around the outer periphery of the metal disk for engagement with a drive shaft of a recorder, the underside of the hub having throughholes for engagement with a brake release plate, the hub having teeth formed on the inner bottom surface to engage a brake lock, the brake release plate consisting of a main plate disposed between the brake lock and the inner surface of the hub and a plurality of legs adapted to fit in the throughholes in the bottom of the hub, the brake lock having brake teeth formed on the periphery of its underside and a contact area in the center for engagement with the brake release plate, the teeth of the hub and the brake teeth of the brake lock being in mesh to prevent unwanted turning of the tape reel, and further including a spring member provided between the brake lock and an upper casing of the housing to urge the brake lock in the braking position: the invention forms a short toe on the outer end of each leg of the brake release plate so as to prevent the leg from coming off, out of engagement with, a corresponding hole of the hub; provides a reinforcing structure between the center of main plate and the legs of the brake release plate; precludes the possibility of a once-incorporated brake release plate coming off from the hub during the course of assembling; and ensures positive release action of the brake release plate.

摘要： A tape cassette housing capable of ensuring safety of a tape cassette in non-use of the tape cassette or during storage and transportation of the tape cassette. The tape cassette housing includes a housing body, a cover, a hinge for relatively openably connecting the housing body and cover to each other, and one or two pairs of projections provided on an inner surface of one of the housing body or cover. The projections are arranged in a manner to positionally correspond to pressing members of a tape cassette for holding reels of the tape cassette through the pressing members when the tape cassette housing is closed while receiving the tape cassette therein, to securely hold the pressing members, resulting in rendering the reels immovable in the tape cassette without any clattering. The housing may be provided with a locking mechanism for locking the housing body and cover together when the tape cassette housing is closed, to thereby further enhance safety of the tape cassette.

The guide of the upper casing and the follower of the brake lock having contours such that the former has guide slopes and positioning points and the latter has projections adapted to be guided by the guide slopes and positioned at the positioning points so that the latter revolves in sliding contact with and fits in the former for positioning.
