摘要: Thermoplastic elastomers of conjugated diolefins having 4 to 6 carbon atoms and monovinyl aromatic hydrocarbons are prepared by polymerizing 8 to 65 parts by weight of a monomer mixture A.sub.1 comprising a conjugated diolefin having 4 to 6 carbon atoms and a monovinyl aromatic hydrocarbon in a weight ratio of 85-10:15-90 in a hydrocarbon solvent and an inert atmosphere in the presence of 0.2 to 20 mmol., per 100 g. of the total amount of the mixture A.sub.1 and the mixture A.sub.2 described below, of a monolithium hydrocarbon calculated as active lithium to form an active copolymer, and after substantial completion of the polymerization, copolymerizing said active copolymer with 92 to 35 parts by weight of a monomer mixture A.sub.2 comprising the same conjugated diolefin having 4 to 6 carbon atoms and monovinyl aromatic hydrocarbon as said mixture A.sub.1 in a weight ratio of 95-20:5-80, such that the total amount of said mixtures A.sub.1 and A.sub.2 is 100 parts by weight, to thereby obtain a final copolymer having a monovinyl aromatic content of 10 to 70% by weight based on the total amount of said mixtures A.sub.1 and A.sub.2. The thus obtained thermoplastic elastomers have at least four polymeric blocks, and are comparable in elastic property to conventional thermoplastic elastomers and excellent in thermal resistance, resistance to oils and processability. Further, said thermoplastic elastomer does not require vulcanization or chemical cross-linking, and can be molded into an article having an excellent shape maintenance property.

摘要: A selectively ion-adsorptive, porous membrane comprising a membranous, porous resin matrix of a hydrophobic polyolefin or a hydrophobic copolymer of an olefin and a halogenated olefin and a plurality of side chains chemically bonded to both surfaces, which in turn are inclusive of pore wall surfaces, of the membranous porous resin matrix is disclosed. The side chains collectively contain both neutral hydroxyl groups and ion exchange groups. The selectively ion-adsorptive, porous membrane is suitable for use in selective purification or selective removal of desired ionic substances including not only ionic inorganic substances but also an ionic organic substances, such as a protein and an amino acid, on a commercial scale. Further, the selectively ion-adsorptive, porous membrane has not only excellent heat resistance, but also excellent mechanical strength. Therefore, the porous membrane of the present invention can advantageously be used for industrial applications, such as pharmacy, fermentation and the like.

摘要: A method for simultaneously removing a plurality of different heavy metal ions from contaminated water is disclosed. A plurality of different heavy metal ions can be simultaneously, efficiently removed by filtering contaminated water through a porous membrane comprising a membranous, porous resin matrix and a plurality of side chains chemically bound to both surfaces and pore wall surfaces of the matrix, which side chains each have a chelate group, preferably an iminodiacetic acid group, and terminating the filtration when the concentration of a determinant heavy metal ion in the filtrate reaches a predetermined level. By the method of the present invention, a plurality of different heavy metal ions, such as a cobalt ion and a nickel ion, can be simultaneously, efficiently removed from contaminated water, such as water to be used for and waste water from a nuclear power generator, on a commercial scale.
