摘要： A cartridge includes upper and lower half segments butting against each other and containing a disk, a shutter provided on one side of the cartridge half segments for exposing or alternatively enclosing the disk, and a torsion spring attached to the shutter for biasing the shutter in a closing direction. An insertion opening is formed in a side portion of the cartridge for permitting insertion of the torsion spring therethrough from outside, and a protective wall is provided upright between the insertion opening and the disk to define a space by the wall and the upper half segment. The space is so sized as to permit the torsion spring to pass therethrough while leaving a small clearance, with legs thereof directed laterally.

摘要： An optical disk 100 is provided with a hub 3 at the central portion of a substratel. A relationship Y/X≧0.015, preferably Y/X≧0.05 is satisfied where X is the projected area of the substrate 1 and Y is a contact area between the hub 3 and the substrate 1. As result, no slippage occurs between the hub 3 and the substrate 1 even when they are rotated at high speed than conventional. With this higher rotational speed, the data transfer rate is improved, and irregular rotation and the camming are suppressed, thereby reducing tracking errors and write/read errors.

摘要： A disc cartridge for containing therein a disc-shaped medium which includes a generally flattened disc casing having a disc chamber defined therein for accommodating the disc-shaped medium and also having an access opening leading into the disc chamber, a lid structure supported by the disc casing at a position adjacent the access opening for movement between a closed position, in which the access opening is closed, and an opened position, and a lid lock interposed between the disc casing and the lid structure for locking the lid structure in the closed position. The lid lock includes a removable lock piece having first and second spaced functional parts. The first functional part has a breakable region through which the removable lock piece is connected with a portion of one of the disc casing and the lid structure, and the second functional part is engageable with a portion of the other of the disc casing and the lid structure to retain the lid structure in the closed position. The lid structure can be moved from the closed position towards the opened position only when and after the removable lock piece is broken off along the breakable region by application of an external force thereto.

摘要： A disc cartridge for freely rotatably accommodating a disc-shaped recording medium, which includes a cartridge casing having a disc chamber defined therein for freely rotatably accommodating the recording medium and also a generally U-shaped access opening defined in one of four sides of the cartridge casing, a lid assembly pivotally supported by the cartridge casing for pivotal movement about a pivot pin in a plane substantially parallel to a plane of the cartridge casing for selectively opening and closing the access opening, and a lid lock means provided between the cartridge casing and the lid assembly for locking the lid assembly in a closed position. The lid lock means includes at least one tubular boss having a through-hole defined therein, and an engagement piece accommodated within the through-hole and separably connected to the tubular boss, a part of the engagement piece protruding outwardly from one of opposite ends of the through-hole and engageable in a hole defined in one of top and bottom walls of the cartridge casing which is adjacent to said one of the opposite ends of the through-hole. That part of the engagement piece is engaged in the hole when the lid assembly is held in the closed position, but the engagement piece may be separated from the tubular boss when an external pushing force is applied thereto through the hole.

摘要： A disc cartridge for freely rotatably accommodating a disc-shaped recording medium has a slide shutter assembly for selectively opening and closing the access window through which a recording and/or reproducing head is accessible to the optical disc accommodated within the cartridge. The slide shutter assembly is of a generally U-shaped configuration including top and bottom shutter plates and a bridge plate connecting the top and bottom shutter plates. While the slide shutter assembly is slidably mounted on a front open portion of the cartridge casing, the bridge plate has an inner surface formed integrally with a plurality of catch pieces. At least one guide plate extends along the front open portion of the cartridge casing between side walls and has a slot defined therein so as to extend lengthwise of the guide plate. With the slide shutter assembly mounted on the front portion of the cartridge casing, the catch pieces are slidably engaged in said slot to avoid an accidental separation of the slide shutter assembly from the cartridge casing.

摘要： A single-reel tape cartridge includes a rectangular flattened casing including upper and lower panels joined together to define a reel chamber therebetween. A tape reel includes a cylindrical hollow boss and upper and lower flanges protruding radially outwardly from upper and lower ends of the hollow boss, respectively, and is accommodated rotatably within the reel chamber. A drive ring is disposed at a lower portion of a hollow of the hollow boss and adapted to receive a rotary drive from a drive element of a tape drive mechanism when the drive element is brought into engagement with the drive ring in a planar contact fashion. This drive ring is supported in a fashion slidable up and down, but non-rotatable relative to the hollow boss. A reel retainer is biased by a biasing spring in one direction towards the lower panel of the casing, such that the drive ring can be sandwiched between the drive element and the reel retainer while the drive element is held in tight contact with an undersurface of the drive ring.
