Abstract: In an application, which refers to holding actuation of a parking brake mechanism (a rotation-linear motion conversion mechanism), a braking control apparatus (a parking brake control apparatus) determines an application stroke from a load detection point including as far as an overshoot amount. The load detection point is a generation point of a thrust force that is detected due to a current flowing in the electric motor. The overshoot amount is generated based on a rotation of an electric motor due to inertia after driving of the electric motor is stopped. The braking control apparatus determines a target release stroke in a release, which is release actuation of the parking brake mechanism, according to the application stroke. The braking control apparatus outputs a control instruction to conduct the release based on the target release stroke.

Abstract: An ESC 33 increases distribution of a braking force to rear wheels according to a reduction in a speed of a vehicle due to braking, and distributes the braking force so as to allow the vehicle to be kept stopped due to braking forces applied to the rear wheels when the vehicle stopped. Then, a second ECU holds the braking force by driving a parking mechanism with the vehicle kept stopped due to the braking forces applied to the rear wheels.

Abstract: A parking brake control apparatus acquires a first physical amount indicating a change in a current applied to an electric motor (for example, a gradient of a change in a current) at the time of an application operation. The parking brake control apparatus sets a second physical amount indicating completion of the application operation so as to make it smaller when the first physical amount (for example, the gradient of the change in the current) exceeds a predetermined threshold value, compared to when the first physical amount is equal to or smaller than the threshold value. The parking brake control apparatus determines the completion of the application operation when a physical amount indicating the application operation (for example, a current value) reaches the second physical amount.
