摘要: A magnetic disc medium comprising: a magnetic sheet in the form of a disk; a case encasing the magnetic sheet so as to be capable of rotating; and a nonwoven liner fastened on an inner face of the case so as to face the magnetic sheet, wherein the magnetic sheet comprises a support, a substantially nonmagnetic lower layer, and a magnetic layer containing hexagonal ferrite powder dispersed in a binder and having central plane average surface roughness of from 1 nm to 4 nm, and the liner comprises polyethylene terephthalate in an amount of 20% by weight or more.

摘要: Provided is a magnetic recording medium ensuring an adequate S/N even in high density magnetic recording, and tending not to electrostatically damage MR heads during recording and reproduction employing MR heads. A magnetic recording medium comprising a nonmagnetic layer comprising a nonmagnetic powder and a binder and a magnetic layer comprising a ferromagnetic metal powder or a ferromagnetic hexagonal ferrite powder and a binder in this order on at least one side of a nonmagnetic support, wherein said nonmagnetic layer comprises 10 to 50 mass parts of carbon black with a mean particle diameter of 10 to 30 nm per 100 mass parts of said nonmagnetic powder, said magnetic layer has a thickness equal to or less than 0.2 &mgr;m, the standard deviation b of the average intensity a of elements due to said ferromagnetic powder as determined by electron-beam microanalysis is 0.03≦b/a≦0.4, and said magnetic layer has a center surface average roughness Ra equal to or less than 5 nm and a ten-point average roughness Rz equal to or less than 50 nm.

摘要: A high-capacity magnetic disk comprises a support, a non-magnetic layer and a magnetic layer having a thickness less than 0.15 &mgr;m and containing ferromagnetic powder selected from fine particles of ferromagnetic metal or fine particles of ferromagnetic hexagonal ferrite dispersed in a binder, and the magnetic disk has a track width less than 5 &mgr;m and can record signals having a bit length less than 0.5 &mgr;m, wherein the ratio of the track width to the average major axis length or tabular diameter of ferromagnetic particles is from 50 to 100, the ratio of the shortest bit length to the average major axis length or tabular diameter of ferromagnetic particles is from 3 to 20, and the thickness of magnetic layer has a variation coefficient of 0.5 or below, expressed in terms of a ratio of the standard deviation to the average thickness of the magnetic layer.

The object of the present invention is to provide a magnetic recording medium which is markedly improved in electromagnetic characteristics, particularly, high density recording characteristics, and is excellent in durability: and to provide a high capacity magnetic recording medium, in particular, a disc-like magnetic recording medium, having a high recording capacity of from 0.17 to 2 Gbit/inch2.
