Abstract:
This is directed to systems, methods, and computer-readable media for defining print settings. In some cases, particular motions of the device can be associated with print settings. In a print settings mode, when the electronic device detects a motion of the device, the device can identify a print setting associated with the detected motion. In some cases, a print setting can instead or in addition be defined in response to receiving an input from an input interface, wherein the input is independent from a displayed option. To print the content, the content and the defined print settings can be provided to a printer system.

Abstract:
An acoustic envelope is provided which may include a tubular sheath which mounted about a conducting element. The tubular sheath has inner and outer tubular portions which are integral with respect to one another. The acoustic envelope further includes a plurality of non-elastic strands which extend longitudinally along the sheath between the inner and outer tubular portions and which are bonded thereto. The tubular sheath is constructed of a material which optimally minimizes vibration induced noise and flow induced noise when the line array is towed through the water.
Abstract:
A relief printing process utilizes a low relief printing form which is inked with a pressure transferable, non-liquid marking material prior to each printing impact. The printing form comprises a support layer on which there is deposited, in an imagewise pattern, a monolayer of uniformly sized granular developing particles within the range of about 25 to about 150 microns in diameter. The printing form can be prepared by a variety of colloid-transfer or electrostatic techniques.
Abstract:
The disclosed embodiments provide a system that facilitates use of a printer. During operation, the system obtains, on an electronic device, a set of supported capabilities from the printer. Next, the system provides, to a user of the electronic device, the set of supported capabilities within a workflow for using the printer without installing printer-specific software for the printer. Upon detecting a selection of a supported capability from the provided set of supported capabilities by the user, the system determines if the supported capability requires the printer-specific software. If the supported capability does not require the printer-specific software, the system enables use of the supported capability by the user without using the printer-specific software to provide the supported capability to the user. If the supported capability requires the printer-specific software, the system uses the printer-specific software to provide the supported capability to the user.
Abstract:
The disclosed embodiments provide a system that facilitates the execution of a print job. During operation, the system receives, at a printer, a signal from a portable electronic device indicating the printer has been selected for the print job. Next, in response to the selection, the system generates an output that facilitates identification of the printer by a user of the portable electronic device. The system also provides a mechanism for confirming physical access to the printer by the user. Upon confirming the physical access to the printer by the user, the system establishes a direct connection between the portable electronic device and the printer, wherein the direct connection is subsequently used by the portable electronic device and the printer to perform the print job.
Abstract:
The disclosed embodiments provide a system that facilitates the execution of a print job. During operation, the system obtains a set of document-processing capabilities from a printer associated with the print job and obtains print data for the print job. Next, the system selects a set of document attributes for the print job based on the document-processing capabilities and the print data, wherein the set of document attributes comprises a document format and a document size. Finally, the system configures the print data to conform to the document attributes to enable processing of the print job by the printer.
Abstract:
The disclosed embodiments provide a system that facilitates communication between a portable electronic device connected to a structured network and a printer. During operation, the system uses a peer-to-peer connection between the portable electronic device and the printer to confirm use of the structured network for subsequent communication between the portable electronic device and the printer. Next, the system enables use of the structured network for the communication by transmitting credentials for the structured network from the portable electronic device to the printer, wherein the transmitted credentials are used by the printer to connect to the structured network. Finally, the system transfers the communication from the peer-to-peer connection to a direct connection between the portable electronic device and the printer on the structured network.
Abstract:
The disclosed embodiments provide a system that performs a print job. During operation, the system detects a printer in proximity to a portable electronic device associated with the print job. Next, the system establishes a peer-to-peer connection between the portable electronic device and the printer and uses the peer-to-peer connection to obtain a set of printer attributes from the printer. If the printer attributes match the print job, the system establishes a direct connection between the printer and the portable electronic device and sends the print job to the printer over the direct connection, wherein the print job is executed using the printer.
Abstract:
Online purchasing of components compatible with particular hardware devices of a computer system. In one aspect, the identity of a hardware device capable of communicating with computer systems is automatically determined. At least one component for the hardware device is displayed on a computer system based on the identity of the hardware device such that the user can select the at least one component for purchase, where the at least one component is compatible with and for use with the hardware device.
