Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a protection switching method and a node. The method can include: receiving, by an intermediate node, a first protection switching request message sent by an upstream neighboring node, where the first protection switching request message is used to request to activate a first protection path, and the intermediate node is a node on the first protection path; determining, by the intermediate node, that the first protection path needs to occupy N1 timeslots, and selecting N1 timeslots for the first protection path from N2 available timeslots in a preset order; and sending, by the intermediate node, a second protection switching request message to the downstream neighboring node, where the second protection switching request message is used to request the downstream neighboring node to complete a cross-connection, on the first protection path, between the downstream neighboring node and the intermediate node based on the first group of timeslots.

Abstract: A multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) node sends an output packet including control information and payload data. The MPLS node is configured to: receive an input packet including the payload data, from a first pseudo-wire segment; modify an encapsulation format of the payload data of the input packet to generate the output packet; and send the output packet to a second pseudo-wire segment. The MPLS node can also be configured to support the opposite operating direction, that is an MPLS, node may be configured to receive an input packet including the payload data from a second pseudo-wire segment; modify an encapsulation format of the payload data of the input packet to generate an output packet; and send the output packet to a first pseudo-wire segment.

Abstract: The disclosure provides an interconnecting node for interconnecting first and second protected domains, the second protected domain comprising a working path and a protection path for linear protection in a network for traffic forwarding between two end-nodes. The interconnecting node comprises at least one interface for receiving first monitoring information from the first protected domain, a monitoring unit for detecting an isolation condition of the interconnecting node within the first protected domain based on the first monitoring information, and generating second monitoring information to be transmitted to the working path so that a failure in the working path is detectable based on the second monitoring information at a far-end node of the working path. If an isolation condition is detected, the monitoring unit starts transmitting alarm indication information to the working path for suppressing at the far-end node an alarm reporting regarding a failure in the working path.
