    摘要: A multi-primary color display has a backlight source and pixels. Each pixel has at least four sub pixels, which display red primary color, green primary color, blue primary color and a fourth primary color, respectively. At the peak position of the fourth primary color located in the wavelength range between 550 nm˜600 nm, the relative luminance ratio of the fourth primary color to the green primary color is greater than or equal to 0.5. When the ratio of the relative luminance meets the requirement and the relative luminance of a newly added primary color is greater than a certain value, the colors beyond the three-primary color gamut, which includes natural colors and other colors outside the natural color gamut, can be reproduced.

    摘要: A flat panel display includes a four-color conversion unit, a backlight control unit, a backlight module, and a pixel array. The four-color conversion unit provides a first set of four color image signals corresponding to three color image input signals based on a preliminary conversion lookup table and provides corresponding conversion scaling factors. The backlight control unit generates a backlight adjusting factor based on the conversion scaling factors. The backlight module provides a backlight output having an intensity adjusted according to the backlight adjusting factor. The four-color conversion unit further provides a second set of four color image signals corresponding to the three color image input signals based on the backlight adjusting factor. The pixel array displays an image according to the second set of four color image signals and the backlight output.

    摘要: A saturation adjustment method is disclosed for compensating over-saturation adjustment. The saturation adjustment method includes: adjusting a first full-scale saturation corresponding to a hue of a color wheel to become a second full-scale saturation wherein the second full-scale saturation is greater than the first full-scale saturation; setting a critical saturation corresponding to the hue based on the first and second full-scale saturations; and adjusting a first saturation within a range between the critical and second full-scale saturations corresponding to the hue to become a second saturation based on the first full-scale, second full-scale and critical saturations. Furthermore, disclosed is a color adjustment system essentially including a saturation adjuster for adjusting the first saturation greater than the critical full-scale saturation to become the second saturation based on an adjusted full-scale saturation and the critical saturation.
