    摘要: A device of driving a light source for a display device is provided, which includes: a temperature sensor detecting a temperature near the light source; and an inverter controlling the light source depending on temperature information supplied from the temperature sensor. The inverter adjusts either or both of a driving frequency and a driving current of the light source depending on the temperature information. The inverter decreases the driving frequency when the detected temperature is lower than a first temperature, and the inverter increases the driving current when the detected temperature is lower than a second temperature lower than the first temperature.

The driving device also includes a lamp state sensing unit sensing driving voltages applied to the respective lamps, comparing the sensed driving voltages to a reference voltage, and outputting a lamp state sensing signal having an information informing an over-current state for at least one lamp; and an inverter turning the lamps on or off by applying an AC voltage to the lamps and controlling the AC voltage based on the lamp state sensing signal. The reference voltage is varied depending on the magnitude of the driving voltages applied to the respective lamps.

    摘要: In a flat-type fluorescent lamp and a liquid crystal display apparatus, the flat-type fluorescent lamp includes a lamp body having an inner space divided into a plurality of discharge channels, a venting member coupled to the lamp body, and a first external electrode formed on the lamp body. The first external electrode has an opening through which the venting member is exposed. Thus, an electric field between a bottom chassis and the external electrode is made uniform, thereby improving brightness uniformity of the flat-type fluorescent lamp.
