摘要: An approach is disclosed that involves creating an updated master dental model of a patient's mouth after an implant surgery by aligning new postoperative oral scan data to pre-existing preoperative oral scan data. Before surgery a multi-piece stackable surgical guide set is created using the preoperative oral scan data. The surgical guide set is used to facilitate the surgery. After the surgery at least one piece of the surgical guide set is placed back in a patient's mouth and acts as a reference marker because it was created using the preoperative oral scan data, but is also part of the postoperative mouth configuration since it was used to facilitate the surgery. The affected portion of the mouth is digitally scanned by way of a physical impression with the reference marker in place to determine the new characteristics resulting from the surgery such as new implant installation locations and orientations.

摘要: A dental appliance set may include a base frame and at least one attachment. The base frame may be configured to engage at least one of a gum tissue area, a bone structure, an existing detention, and an artificial fixed prosthesis of a patient. The base frame may have an arcuate shaped structure and may not obstruct a surgical site region of an alveolar ridge of a patient jaw. The at least one attachment may be attachable to the base frame using a second connector element selectively engaging the first connector element. The at least one attachment may be configured to obstruct at least a portion of the surgical site region of the top ridge. The base frame and the at least one attachment may be configured to be fully received in the patient's mouth in an assembled orientation.

摘要: A method may include creating a digital preoperative dental model of an oral structure of a patient in a CAM compatible file format based on preoperative scan data of the oral structure. The preoperative scan data may include a plurality of preoperative scan data sets that are aligned and combined with one another. The digital preoperative dental model may include (i) preoperative scan coordinates that represent an unexposed jawbone structure of the patient obtained from tomography scan data and (ii) preoperative surface scan coordinates that represent at least one of gum tissue, an existing dentition, and an existing artificial restoration of the patient. The method may also include creating a digital design of a surgical drill guide in a CAM compatible file format based on the digital preoperative dental model to directly engage at least one surface structure of the patient and a jawbone of the patient simultaneously.

摘要: A method may include obtaining a digital preoperative dental model of a patient, designing a guide appliance set on the digital preoperative dental model according to a surgical plan for the patient, and storing the design of the guide appliance set in a computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) compatible file format. Designing the guide appliance set may include designing a base frame configured to engage an oral structure of the patient without obstructing a planned surgical site region of an alveolar ridge, designing an uppermost surface of the base frame to, at least in an area adjacent to the planned surgical site region, terminate below the alveolar ridge when the base frame is engaged with the oral structure, designing at least one attachment that is releasably attachable to the base frame, and designing the at least one attachment to be fully received in a mouth when attached to the base frame.

The new postoperative oral scan data may be combined with the pre-existing preoperative oral scan data by way of the reference marker (since it is a constant between the two sets of scan data) without having to do such things as take a new bite registration, on which a new implant restoration can be easily created.
