    摘要: Disclosed is a sPS nanocomposite with improved crystallization properties and higher mechanical strength, which comprises a polymer matrix containing syndiotactic polystyrene (sPS), and a layered clay material uniformly dispersed in the polymer matrix. The layered clay material is intercalated with an organic onium cation and optionally along with a polymer or oligomer which is compatible or partially compatible with sPS. The interlayer distances of the layered clay material are at least 20 Å. The sPS nanocomposite can be prepared by ways of in-situ polymerization, melt blending, or solution blending. According to the invention, the layered clay material dispersed in the sPS matrix not only leads to higher mechanical strength, but also, surprisingly, improves crystallization properties of sPS.

    摘要: A direct contact type charging component for use in electrophotographic process containing a protective surface layer which comprises a polyether-ester-amide block copolymer. The copolymer is environmentally stably having a volume resistivity between 10.sup.6 Ohm-cm and 10.sup.12 Ohm-cm and a Shore hardness between Shore D 5 and Shore D 90. During the electrophotographic process, a voltage is applied externally to the charging component to cause a charged component, which typically comprises a photo-conductive drum, to become electrostatically charged. In the preferred embodiment, the voltage consists of a direct voltage of .+-.200 to .+-.2,000 V overlapped with an alternating voltage having a peak-to-peak voltage of 4,000 V.

    摘要: A surface treating composition for treating long glass fibers for use in making long fiber-reinforced resin composites and methods for preparation and use thereof are provided. The surface treating compositions comprise(i) a wetting agent in an amount ranging between about 3 and about 40 wt. %, said wetting agent having a formula: ##STR1## wherein A=4-12; B=2-10; n=2-6; m=20-40; and R=CH.sub.3 or C.sub.2 H.sub.5 ; and a thermoplastic resin in an amount ranging between about 1 and about 40 wt. %, said thermoplastic resin is selected from the group consisting of polyamide polymers, polyamide copolymers, polyalkylcarbonate polymers, polyalkylcarbonate copolymers, and mixtures thereof. Reinforced thermoplastic composites having the treated glass fiber have excellent mechanical and uniform fiber dispersibility properties.
