    Abstract: In a method for operating a fingerprint sensor including a plurality of ultrasonic transducers, receiving a plurality of images corresponding to different subsets of the ultrasonic transducers of the fingerprint sensor are received, wherein the plurality of images are non-adjacent. For each image of the plurality of images, it is determined whether the image of the plurality of images is indicative of a fingerprint. Provided a number of images of the plurality of images that are indicative of a fingerprint satisfies a threshold, it is determined whether the images of the plurality of images that are indicative of a fingerprint are collectively indicative of a fingerprint. Provided the plurality of images are collectively indicative of a fingerprint, it is determined that the plurality of images include a fingerprint.

    Abstract: A robotic cleaning appliance includes a housing to which is coupled a surface treatment item and a sensor assembly with first and second transducers and an acoustic interface. The first sonic transducer transmits sonic signals through an acoustic interface and out of a first acoustic opening toward a surface beneath the robotic cleaning appliance. The sonic signals reflect from the surface as corresponding returned signals received by the second sonic transducer via a second acoustic opening port of the acoustic interface. A first annular ring is defined around the first acoustic opening port and a second annular rings is defined around the second acoustic opening port. The annular ring attenuate direct path echoes between the acoustic opening ports. The first and second acoustic opening ports are coupled the first and sonic transducers, respectively, via first and second horns; and the horns are tilted from orthogonal with the surface.

    Abstract: A robotic cleaning appliance includes a housing to which is coupled a surface treatment item and a sensor assembly with first and second transducers and an acoustic interface.     Abstract: A device comprises a processor coupled with an ultrasonic transducer which is configured to repeatedly emit ultrasonic pulses during transmit periods which are interspersed with listening windows. Each sequential pair of the transmit periods is separated by a single listening window of the listening windows. During a fixed portion of a listening window of the listening windows the ultrasonic transducer is configured to receive returned signals corresponding to an emitted ultrasonic pulse of the ultrasonic pulses which was transmitted during a transmit period of the transmit periods that immediately preceded the listening window. The processor randomizes an overall length of each listening window of the listening windows. The processor directs filtering of returned signals received during a plurality of the randomized listening windows to achieve filtered returned signals. The processor detects, using the filtered returned signals, a moving object in a field of view of the ultrasonic transducer.

    Abstract: In a method for performing operating a fingerprint sensor, an image of a fingerprint of a finger is captured at a fingerprint sensor. A force applied by the finger at the fingerprint sensor is determined, where the force is a measure of pressure applied by the finger on the fingerprint sensor during capture of the image. The force is compared to a pressure threshold. Provided the force satisfies a pressure threshold, a spoof detection operation is performed to determine whether the finger is a real finger. Provided the force does not satisfy the pressure threshold, fingerprint authentication using the image of the fingerprint is performed without performing the spoof detection operation.

    Abstract: In a method for determining whether a finger is a real finger at an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, a sequence of images of a fingerprint of a finger are captured at an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, wherein the sequence of images includes images captured during a change in contact state between the finger and the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. A plurality of transient features of the finger is extracted from the sequence of images. A classifier is applied to the plurality of transient features to classify the finger as one of a real finger and a fake finger. It is determined whether the finger is a real finger based on an output of the classifier.

    Abstract: In a method for enhancing quality of a fingerprint image, a plurality of images is received, where the plurality of images comprises fingerprint images. An image of the plurality of images is selected as a reference image. Subsections of each image of the plurality of images are compared to corresponding subsections of the reference image. Based on the comparing, subsections of each image of the plurality of images are selected to utilize in generating an image average of the plurality of images. An image average of the plurality of images is generated utilizing selected subsections of the plurality of images.
