Abstract: A fake finger in which a transparent thin film is attached to a finger surface is discriminated. A fake-finger determination device includes: an imaging unit 10 that captures an authentication object as a fingerprint authentication object; a classifying unit 31 that classifies an image captured by the imaging unit 10 into a plurality of regions including at least a skin region and a background region using colors of pixels included in the image; and a determining unit 32 that determines whether or not a foreign substance is present in the periphery of a finger based on a feature of a region classified as neither the skin region nor the background region out of the regions classified by the classifying unit 31.

Abstract: Systems and methods for assessing PPG signals generated based on transdermal optical data can include a computing device generating a color intensity signal using an acquired sequence of transdermal images of a subject. The computing device can compute a signal quality metric of the color intensity signal. The computing device can provide an indication of a quality of the color intensity signal for display on a display device associated with the computing device. The indication of the quality of the color intensity signal can be determined based on the signal quality metric.

A processor implemented liveness test method includes extracting an interest region of an object from a portion of the object in an input image, performing a liveness test on the object using a neural network model-based liveness test model, the liveness test model using image information of the interest region as provided first input image information to the liveness test model and determining liveness based at least on extracted texture information from the information of the interest region by the liveness test model, and indicating a result of the liveness test.

Abstract: An ultrasonic fingerprint sensor in a mobile device is operated to capture an initial snapshot of reflection from a finger's surface, of acoustic energy transmitted at a first frequency. Additionally, the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is operated repeatedly to capture over time, a sequence of sets, each set including one or more additional snapshots of reflection from one or more depths within the finger, of acoustic energy transmitted at a second frequency significantly lower than the first frequency. Measurements in the additional snapshots are processed to determine whether any signal oscillating at a rate in a normal range for heart rate or respiration rate is present. When a signal is found, its rate may be used in several ways, e.g. to enable functionality when a fingerprint in the initial snapshot matches a reference fingerprint, or to identify and track a heart rate (or a respiration rate) based on the signal's rate.

Abstract: The present invention relates biometric authentication using an optical biometric arrangement comprising an image sensor comprising a photodetector pixel array configured to capture an image of an object, the image sensor being arranged under a color controllable light source comprising light source units, the method comprising: providing a light pattern comprising portions of different light intensity for illuminating the object; acquiring an image of the object, the image comprising image portions corresponding to the portions of different light intensity of the light pattern illuminating the object, at least one image portion being captured by pixels in the photodetector pixel array arranged directly under a light source being active during image acquisition, and at least one image portion being captured by pixels in the photodetector pixel array arranged under an at least partly in-active illumination area of the color controllable light source during image acquisition, and performing biometric authentication at least partly based on metrics extracted from the image portions.

Abstract: The present teaching relates to method, system, medium, and implementations for detecting liveness. When an image is received with visual information claimed to represent a palm of a person, a region of interests (ROI) in the image that corresponds to the palm is identified. Each of a plurality of fake palm detectors individually generates an individual decision on whether the ROI corresponds to a specific type of fake palm that the fake palm detector is to detect. Such individual decisions from the plurality of fake palm detectors are combined to derive a liveness detection decision with respect to the ROI.

Abstract: A dermatoglyph detector includes a detection circuit and an electronic processor unit. The detection circuit includes an electrically conductive thin film in which there are formed both electrodes that are arranged to come into contact with the skin of a portion of a human body and also conductive tracks connecting the electrodes to the processor unit. The processor unit is arranged to determine electrical characteristics of the body portion extending between each pair of electrodes in contact with the skin, and to execute a computer program for acting on the basis of the determined electrical characteristics to distinguish between an authentic body portion and a fake body portion. The detection circuit includes at least two track segments of different shapes between two calibration terminals so as to present an impedance ratio that is not equal to unity.
