    Abstract: A system is provided. The system includes a premises sensor configured to detect a premises condition, a premises security control device configured to obtain data from the premises sensor representing the premises condition, the premises security control device is further configured to communicate with a remote monitoring center, a user interface device is configured to communicate with the premises monitoring control device. The user interface device includes a plastic housing, a liquid crystal display (LCD) removably secured to the plastic housing, a fingerprint sensor mounted in a fixed position relative to the plastic housing and the LCD, and processing circuitry configured to: receive fingerprint data from the fingerprint sensor, determine that the fingerprint data meets an authentication criterion, and in response to determining that the fingerprint data meets the authentication criterion, trigger a premises security system action.

    Abstract: An ultrasonic fingerprint sensor in a mobile device is operated to capture an initial snapshot of reflection from a finger's surface, of acoustic energy transmitted at a first frequency. Additionally, the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is operated repeatedly to capture over time, a sequence of sets, each set including one or more additional snapshots of reflection from one or more depths within the finger, of acoustic energy transmitted at a second frequency significantly lower than the first frequency. Measurements in the additional snapshots are processed to determine whether any signal oscillating at a rate in a normal range for heart rate or respiration rate is present. When a signal is found, its rate may be used in several ways, e.g. to enable functionality when a fingerprint in the initial snapshot matches a reference fingerprint, or to identify and track a heart rate (or a respiration rate) based on the signal's rate.

    Abstract: The present invention improves an accuracy to discern a fake finger created by attaching a transparent thin film to the surface of a finger. The present invention has: a mounting surface that has a mounting area to mount an authentication target that is an object of fingerprint authentication; a transparent plate that is provided on mounting surface and defines a range of an image used for determining the authenticity of the authentication target; a light source that allows light to directly enter the authentication target mounted on the mounting area, not by way of the transparent plate; and an imaging device that images the authentication target mounted on the mounting area, by way of a the transparent plate, wherein a light emitting surface for emitting light of the light source to outside is disposed on the same plane as the mounting surface.

    Abstract: A dermatoglyph detector includes a detection circuit and an electronic processor unit. The detection circuit includes an electrically conductive thin film in which there are formed both electrodes that are arranged to come into contact with the skin of a portion of a human body and also conductive tracks connecting the electrodes to the processor unit. The processor unit is arranged to determine electrical characteristics of the body portion extending between each pair of electrodes in contact with the skin, and to execute a computer program for acting on the basis of the determined electrical characteristics to distinguish between an authentic body portion and a fake body portion. The detection circuit includes at least two track segments of different shapes between two calibration terminals so as to present an impedance ratio that is not equal to unity.
