A transparent solid soap or transparent soap material which comprises mainly of a salt of the fatty acid, is obtained by saponifying fatty acid or animal/vegetable oil with alkali, wherein1) the alkali is sodium hydroxide and organic amine, and a molar ratio of sodium hydroxide to organic amine is from 1:0.8 to 1:2, and2) a quantity of the alkali is 2 to 3 saponifying equivalents to the fatty acid or the animal/vegetable oil.The transparent solid soap and the transparent soap material according to the present invention can be easily produced without requiring a fine control of moisture content, and a maturing period till reduction in weight is settled, and, besides, good in stabilities of transparency and of weight with a passage of time.

This allows the detection timing of a laser beam by a laser beam detector to be kept constant.

A differential sensitivity calculation portion calculates the differential sensitivity D of a toner concentration sensor, using an output voltage V1 and V2 of the toner concentration sensor when a toner chamber is in a state of toner concentration T1 and T2 at the time of initial operation of a printer, or at some other time. A toner replenishment control portion takes as input a current output voltage Vs output from the toner concentration sensor, calculates the toner concentration in the toner chamber using the output voltage Vs and the differential sensitivity D calculated by the differential sensitivity calculation portion, and outputs a control signal to a toner replenishment motor so as to maintain the toner concentration in the toner chamber at an appropriate concentration.
