Annular elastomeric bodies having intricate shapes are cast by dipping a heated, rotating mandrel into a solution of the elastomer, permitting the elastomer to creep into sharp recesses, dryng the coated mandrel and repeating the operation until the desired thickness has been achieved. A bladder for a heart assist pump in which a cylindrical body terminating in flat, sharp horizontal flanges fabricated by this procedure has been subjected to over 2,500 hours of simulated life conditions with no visible signs of degradation.

A solar energy concentrator/collector assembly employing an altitude-azimuth dual axis scanning mounting assembly including a base with a circular track for mounting the assembly for rotation about a vertical axis. The assembly includes a turret defining second pivotable axis normal to the vertical axis and intersecting the same. A boom, a concentrator and a collector act as a single rotational assembly during solar collection and fold together during non-operating periods to minimize the profile and wind loading. In one preferred embodiment the solar energy collector is fixed and located at the intersection of the two axes and a boom carries a secondary mirror reflecting solar energy from said primary mirror to the solar energy collector which may be a Stirling cycle engine or other heat engine. In an alternate embodiment the solar energy collector is located on the boom at the focus region of the solar concentrator.

A superimposed charge projectile employing electrically actuated squibs with combinations of temperature and pressure fusing associated with each charge. Electrical conductors for the projectile are formed as a part of the longitudinal casing along the superimposed charges with both detonators and pressure switches located in the casing wall in communication with respective superimposed charges. The fuses are arranged so that the charges are armed and fired in sequence by the cooperative effort of pressure activated switches in the casing and thermally fusible armed links to enable each stage in sequence for firing through a common opening adjacent to the first or outermost superimposed charge.
