摘要: A security system senses intrusions into a shipping container through the opening of doors, cutting an opening, or removing the doors from their hinges. Intrusion information is transmitted to a remote receiver without interrogation, thereby reducing power consumption. Sensing is accomplished by employing a range-gated micro-impulse radar (“RGR”) that generates microwave pulses that bounce around the interior of the container. The RGR includes a range gate that enables measuring reflected signals during the time gate period that is set for the time it takes a pulse to propagate a maximum distance within the container and reflect back. A direct current signal level is produced that represents the average reflected signal level within the container, and a Doppler shift measurement is made that represents motion inside the container. The signals are conveyed to the transmitter for conveyance to the remote receiver.

摘要: A dual technology intrusion detection device has a microwave detection sub-system, employing a bent mono-pole as an antenna to generate a symmetrical conically shaped volume of protection. The intrusion detection system also has a passive infrared intrusion detection sub-system, employing a hemispherically shaped fresnel lens having a plurality of lens segments, to detect infrared radiation from a plurality of spaced apart fields of view in a right symmetrical cone. The volume of protection for the infrared intrusion detector and microwave detector substantially coincide. In addition, the microwave detection sub-system employs a single bipolar transistor and a variable trim capacitor to generate the microwave energy and also uses the single bipolar transistor in an autodyne mode to mix the received microwave radiation.

摘要: A flash strobe power supply adapted for controlling alternately the energization of a pair of flash lamps includes a trigger timing device for generating a series of positive pulses and a series of negative pulses spaced in time from the positive pulses by a predetermined interval. First and second energy storage devices are provided for repeatedly charging incrementally during successive charging cycles and for storing a charge to be applied to respective first and second flash lamps. An inverter oscillator circuit includes a pulse width modulator and a transformer for generating a quasi-squarewave signal whose frequency is greater than the frequency of the positive and negative pulses to control the incremental charging of the energy storage devices. First and second switching devices deliver when conductive the charge stored in the first and second energy storage devices to their respective first and second flash lamps. A first switching means is responsive to the positive pulses of the timing device for rendering it conductive to permit the discharging of the charge stored in the first energy storage device through the first flash lamp. The second switching device is responsive to the negative pulses of the timing device for rendering it conductive to permit the discharging of the charge stored in the second energy storage device through the second flash lamp. Antisaturation circuit responsive to the quasi-squarewave signal prevents saturation of the primary winding of the transformer by disabling of the pulse width modulator which avoids further incremental charging of the first and second storage devices.

摘要: A dual sensing intrusion detection system has a microwave channel and a PIR channel. The signal from the microwave channel is amplified by an amplifier having a substantially constant gain, and is digitized and converted into a first digital signal. The signal from the PIR detector is amplified by amplifier having a substantial constant gain and is digitized and converted into a second digital signal. The first and second digital signals are compared to a microwave threshold signal and a PIR threshold signal respectively to generate an alarm signal. The system has a thermistor to detect the ambient temperature. The PIR threshold signal can be adjusted based upon changes in static conditions from the output of the thermistor. In addition, the microwave threshold signal can be changed statically based upon long term trend of the first digitized signal. Finally, the PIR threshold signal and the microwave threshold signal can be changed based upon detection from the other respective channel due to dynamic changes in the environment.

摘要: An improved turbine engine igniter exciter circuit. An oscillator circuit drives the primary winding of a transformer for charging a capacitor to a predetermined voltage greater than the voltage required to sustain a spark discharge at an igniter but less than the voltage required to establish a spark discharge at the igniter. A timing circuit periodically triggers an SCR to discharge a portion of the energy stored in the capacitor through the primary winding of a step up transformer to create a short duration high voltage ignition pulse for establishing the spark discharge. The remaining lower voltage energy in the capacitor sustains the spark discharge for a predetermined time.
