摘要:
A print folder application that can be run on existing electronic reprographic systems. By using a print folder, users may select several jobs in the job file to be printed as a specified number of collated supersets with or without a common finishing selection. This can be accomplished without disturbing the individual jobs in the job file. Use of a print folder has the advantages of avoiding operator post-collation of sets of different jobs into supersets for distribution and the ability to get a uniform number of sets with uniform finishing characteristics of multiple jobs without editing the individual jobs.

Copy sheets are scheduled for being printed and output by an imaging system according to a method in which the scheduling is selectively conducted in one of a first mode where for each set of copy sheets to be pritned, the copy sheets are consecutively output from the copy sheet paper path without any skipped pitches between each consecutively output copy sheet, and a second mode, where for each set of copy sheets to be printed, the copy sheets are output from the copy sheet paper path with skipped pitches between at least some of the consecutively output copy sheets. The second mode of operation results in copy sheets being output from the imaging device at a lower frequency than in the first mode.

The handling of copy sensitive jobs in an electronic reprographic printing system comprises a unique bindexer sheet routing operation to ensure job integrity when printing copy sensitive jobs using multiset scheduling. A bindexer bin fill pattern is used which is unidirectional and begins at the same bin for each sheet of the set. Job recovery for copy sensitive jobs can include purging and remaking sets and partial sets to a greater extent for copy sensitive jobs than that required for noncopy sensitive jobs. The unique job recovery preserves the uniqueness of the copy sensitive jobs while improving the overall job recovery productivity for non-copy sensitive jobs.

A printer dynamic job recovery operation in an electronic reprographic system includes automatic detection of a printed sheet having an image thereon with a relative loss of integrity. Specified sheets are automatically purged to a specified location in response to such detection. The purging can begin at the first detected sheet or up to three sheets in advance of the detected sheet. Job recovery for job completion can be initiated immediately without cycling down the printer.

A vacuum corrugation feeder stack height detection calibration system and method includes placing a single document in the document tray. Coupled to the stack height arm at the pivot point is a high resolution rotary encoder and dual beam sensor. The stack height arm is flipped up and then back down onto the document and pulses are counted. This difference in up and down pulses represents the "one sheet case." Software then stores this number in non-volatile memory and uses it to create a table of values for various document stack heights by adding constant values to the originally obtained "one sheet case" value.

A plurality of image processing resources including a finishing station provides an image on a copy sheet during a given cyclical time period and a controller sequencer electrically interconnected to each of the resources directs the operation of the image processing resources, wherein the sequencer provides concurrent ready request signals to each of the resources including the finishing stations, each of the resources provide ready or not ready response signals to the sequencer, and dependent upon the ready or not ready signals of each of the resources the controller periodically skips cyclical time periods or pitches to allow the resources to synchronously reach a ready state.

An air knife pressure calibration system and method for a bottom vacuum corrugation recirculating document feeder includes measuring the air pressure and adjusting an air pressure control valve of the air knife to a predetermined value. This valve position is stored in a non-volatile memory and can be used to create a table of values for various document stack heights by adding constant values that represent additional documents to the one document value. Thus, customized valve positions are accomplished that are machine as well as altitude sensitive.

A dual mode apparatus in which set of sheets are delivered to an operator. The operating mode of the apparatus is selected, and sets of sheets are received and supported at a loading station. In response to the selected mode of operation, sets of sheets are advanced from the loading station to the unloading station for delivery to the operator. In one mode of operation, the sets of sheets are advanced from the loading station to the unloading station after the completion of each job. In another mode of operation, the sets of sheets are advanced from the loading station to the unloading station after the maximum number of sets of sheets have been stacked at the loading station independent of the number of jobs.

A print media sheet tray control system for use with a printing system having a controller is provided. The control system includes a print media sheet tray which is configurable, through use of the controller, in a selected one of a first operational mode and a second operational mode. The configurable print media sheet tray is characterized by a print media attribute set having a selected state which can be either a first state or a second state. If the configurable print media sheet tray is configured in the first operational mode, then the controller prohibits printing system operation if the selected state has been altered from the first state to the second state. On the other hand, if the configurable print media sheet tray is configured in the second operational mode, then operation of the printing system is permitted provided the alteration was achieved pursuant to a preselected alteration process.
