摘要: A high frequency electrosurgical power generator configured to produce electrical power at a frequency of about 1 to about 14 MHz and preferably having an essentially sinusoidal waveform with a voltage level up to 1,000 Vrms, and a current level up to 5 Amps. The output of the high frequency electrosurgical power generator is connected to an electrosurgical tool configured to receive the voltage and current produced by the electrosurgical power generator and deliver the voltage and current to an electrosurgical site. The output of the electrosurgical generator preferably is an essentially sinusoid waveform with a frequency between about 3 MHz and about 8 MHz, up to about 700 volts rms, up to about 2 amps, with a total power of up to 1,000 watts.

摘要: An adjustable annuloplasty device is described. The device includes a body member comprising a shape memory material, the body member configured to be placed at or near a base of a valve of a heart. The device further includes a hysteretic material configured to undergo magnetic hysteresis in response to a first activation energy, the hysteretic material being in thermal communication with the shape memory material. The body member may have a first size of a body member dimension in a first configuration and a second size of the body member dimension in a second configuration. When the body member is in position in the heart, a change from the first configuration to the second configuration changes a size of a dimension of the annulus of the valve.

摘要: A medical device system and method provide an RF electrosurgical generator coupled to an electrosurgical electrode via a patient box disposed in close proximity to the patient. An RF signal is delivered from the generator to the patient box where signal power is increased and the RF signal delivered to the electrosurgical electrode. The patient box is coupled to the electrosurgical electrode by a short cable capable of carrying an HV, high frequency 5 MHz signal without leakage. An electrical characteristic associated with the electrosurgical electrode is monitored and a desired RF power output and duty cycle maintained by adjusting DC input voltage applied to an RF amplifier, responsive to the monitoring. The system determines when the electrosurgical cutting electrode has started cutting and switches from a start mode to a run mode having a different RF duty cycle and a reduced RF power output controlled by a servo system.

摘要: The invention discloses a system, method and medical device for measuring various hemoglobin derivatives, such as oxyhemoglobin, reduced hemoglobin, partial hemoglobin, carboxyhemoglobin, methemoglobin and sulfhemoglobin in whole or in hemolyzed blood. The novel method uses a statistical approach to enable the design of a portable co-oximeter. This portable co-oximeter utilizes compact light sources, such as light emitting diodes or light emitting lasers, to emit light in the visible region. Being portable, the device is a point-of-care device that can be used in emergency situations by paramedics, in the emergency room, and in a physicians office to detect and measure the concentrations and/or percentages of functional and non-functional hemoglobin derivatives in a patient's blood.

摘要: A method for controlling an electrosurgical electrode of a medical device includes providing an electrosurgical tissue cutting electrode having an arcuate electrode portion; delivering energy from an RF generator to the electrosurgical electrode, said RF generator including an RF amplifier; monitoring an electrical characteristic associated with said electrosurgical electrode; and establishing a desired RF power output and a desired RF duty cycle at said RF generator by adjusting DC input voltage applied to an output stage of said RF amplifier based on said monitoring to effect tissue cutting by the arcuate electrode portion.
