摘要: Improved operation of an LPG fractionating facility having a deethanizer, depropanizer and debutanizer is obtained by operating the deethanizer at a lower pressure than conventional, (e.g., less than 500 psig), thereby reducing the temperature of the deethanizer bottoms such that the debutanizer operated at greater than conventional pressure (e.g., over 100 psig) produces a mixed butane overhead at a higher temperature than the deethanizer bottoms whereby the mixed butane overhead is condensed and cooled by indirect contact with the deethanizer bottoms thereby heating the bottoms and supplying a substantial portion of the energy required for the fractionation in the deethanizer. The energy reduction for the three column system through the improved heat recovery system is 10% to 50% depending upon the feed composition.

摘要: A process for separating vaporous mixtures of hydrocarbons, water and emulsifier derived from the remediation of wellbore fluid, such as a mud containing solid particulate material in which the vaporous mixture is quenched with a hydrocarbon stream which is at a temperature above the boiling point of water and below the boiling point of the hydrocarbons in the vaporous stream. Most of the hydrocarbons in the vaporous stream and substantially all of the emulsifier are condensed into the hydrocarbon quench to form an oil stream. The water is recovered from the hydrocarbon quench as a vaporous stream and quenched with water. The quenched water and any residual heavier hydrocarbons are separated by phase separation.

摘要: Apparatus and process for an energy saving system for the fractionation of a C.sub.4 stream containing predominately n-butane and isobutane using an open heat pump cycle in which the n-butane bottoms from the fractionation are the compressing medium and isobutane overhead is used to vaporize the n-butane by indirect heat exchange. A problem which would be expected to prevent this system is the unusual characteristic of n-butane (also isobutane) that on compression a liquid-vapor phase results, which is damaging to the compressor. This is overcome by passing the vaporized n-butane prior to compression, through an apparatus that removes any entrained liquids and heats the vapors to a temperature sufficient to prevent the formation of the liquid phase under compression. It has been found that this process results in the use of only about 9% of the outside energy previously used in conventional operation for a specific unit.

摘要: An n-butane/isobutane splitter is operated by compressing the isobutane overhead to increase its condensing temperature, using the compressed overhead to heat bottoms in a reboiler, which is operated to condense the overhead and cooling the condensed overhead to a temperature no lower than the temperature on the top tray of the splitter and no higher than 20.degree. F. above the temperature on the top tray, whereby the throughput of the splitter is increased by 10 to 20%.
