摘要： A combination internal combustion and steam engine includes a cylinder having a piston mounted for reciprocation therein with an internal combustion chamber and a steam chamber in the cylinder adjacent the piston and at least one steam exhaust port positioned to communicate with the steam chamber through the wall of the cylinder for exhausting steam at a location in the cylinder wall adjacent to an engine cylinder cap surface that is heated externally to assist in reducing chilling or condensation of steam entering the steam chamber from a boiler fired by waste combustion heat. The invention also permits steam admitted from a steam chest jacketing the cylinder cap to be exhausted from the engine when the steam chamber is in an expanded state whereupon residual steam is then recompressed prior to admitting the next charge of steam with the stream in the steam chamber being heated directly by the combustion chamber as well as by heat from the steam chest. An I.C. exhaust powered heater is a part of an I.C. exhaust manifold which functions as an afterburner with supplemental air injection for promoting combustion of unburned exhaust constituents to superheat steam that is piped through it to the steam chest. The invention provides valves for balancing steam engine displacement with boiler output and for cylinder compounding with a boiler, heat exchange and control arrangement for efficiently recovering waste heat.

摘要： An HF radio transceiving apparatus that maintains communication integrity by employing a plurality of receivers, each capable of operating in separate and independent communication modes. One embodiment of the apparatus includes an antenna, a programmed controller having a plurality of control signals, first and second receivers and a transmitter section. The receivers receive and demodulate radio signals transmitted from external radios in common or mutually exclusive communication modes, and provide link-data information to the programmed controller. The transmitter, responsive to the programmed controller and coupled to the antenna, transmits modulated data in one of the common or mutually exclusive communication modes. The controller commands the first and second receivers and the transmitter such that the transmitter is dynamically paired with the appropriate receiver for operation in the desired communications mode as determined manually by the operator or by an appropriate automatic communications protocol.

摘要： A high frequency communication system has at least two stations with each station having a discrete address, a transmitter, a receiver and a means for selecting the preferred frequency for transmitting at least a preselected format between the station includes a means for sequentially tuning the receiver through a group of channels with each channel having a preselected frequency and bandwidth, a means for measuring the link quality of each channel that is received according to the discrete address of the station transmitting the message. After the link quality is measured it is stored in a link quality matrix according to the channel and address of the station transmitting the message, so that when transmission is initiated by the station receiving the message it may select the channel with the best link quality and initiate transmission on that channel if it is available.

摘要： A dispenser is described for pouring liquids from a container such as a liquor bottle. It includes a discharge passage having an outlet nozzle at one end and a dual purpose valve element slideably and sealably mounted within the passage. The valve element includes a duct through it that extends between opposite sides of the passage. A movable sealing body, e.g. a ball in the duct is adapted to move under the influence of gravity to a first position for sealing the duct when the dispenser is inverted. The sealing body moves under the influence of gravity from its sealing position to an open position when the dispenser is upright allowing the valve element to slide quickly to its starting position at the end of the passage.

摘要： An RF communications system assures selection of the optimum frequency for establishing a communications path between two stations by employing scanning transceivers which may be operated on a plurality of channels having programmed frequencies wherein the programmed frequencies in one transceiver may be automatically changed from another transceiver after establishing a communications path over one of the channels and, when calling another transceiver, the calling transceiver automatically reverts to the same channel last used for communications contact with the called transceiver.
