Abstract: A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate and a second substrate bonded to each other at their periphery by a sealant, with liquid crystal sealed between the first substrate and a second substrate, and has a display region. The first substrate is formed, between the sealant and an end portion of the display region, with a wall that partitions the liquid crystal into a portion on the display region side and a portion on the sealant side. A gap exists between the tip of the wall and the second substrate side. In the liquid crystal display device, a liquid crystal portion that has been contaminated is restrained from moving into the display region.

Abstract: In a liquid crystal display device, a first interlayer insulating film is arranged on a gate line and first, second and third source lines. A first common electrode includes a first sub-common electrode on the first interlayer insulating film and facing the gate line. A second insulating film covers the first common electrode. A first main pixel electrode extends on the second interlayer insulating film between the first source line and the second source line. A second main pixel electrode extends on the second interlayer insulating film between the second source line and the third source line. A second common electrode includes a second sub-common electrode extending on the second interlayer insulating film between the first source line and the second source line so as to face the first sub-common electrode, and is cut out between the second source line and the third source line.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate and a second substrate. In the first substrate, gate lines extend in a first direction, and a first source line and a second source line extend in a second direction orthogonally crossing the first direction. A pixel electrode having a first belt-like main electrode is arranged approximately in a central portion between the first source line and the second source line and extending in the second direction. A first belt-like sub-electrode covers the gate line between the first source line and the second source line and extending in the first direction. The second substrate includes a counter electrode having a second main electrode arranged on the first and second source lines and extending in the second direction. A liquid crystal layer is held between the first substrate and the second substrate.

Abstract: An auxiliary capacitance line with a branch portion extends in a row direction. A switching element is arranged in a circumference in which a source line crosses a gate line. Pixel electrodes adjoining each other in a column direction are electrically connected with adjoining different source lines through a switching element. The switching element includes a drain line arranged under the source line and extending to a region under the auxiliary capacitance line. The branch portion of the auxiliary capacitance line extends along the source line between the source line and the drain line. The pixel electrode electrically connected to one of the adjacent source lines in the row direction is arranged closer to the other source line than one of the source line.
