    Abstract: A display device is provided which includes a lower substrate and an upper substrate. An inner surface of the lower substrate and an inner surface of the upper surface face each other. A polarizing plate is disposed on an outer surface of the upper substrate, wherein the polarizing plate includes at least an inside protective film, a polarizing film and an outside protective film, which are layered on the upper substrate side in this order so that the inside protective film is adjacent to the upper substrate. An expansion axis of the outside protective film forms an angle of 30° or more and 90° or less with an expansion axis of the polarizing film, and an expansion axis of the inside protective film forms an angle of 0° or more and 3° or less with an expansion axis of the polarizing film.

    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a first substrate including a plurality of pixels, a second substrate opposed comprising a plurality of color filters and a light-shielding layer, and a liquid crystal layer. The plurality of pixels include a plurality of first pixels arranged in an oblique direction and a plurality of second pixels adjacent to each of the plurality of first pixels. The plurality of color filters include a first color filter extending in the oblique direction to overlap with the plurality of first pixels and a second color filter extending in the oblique direction to overlap with the plurality of second pixels. The light-shielding layer extends to overlap with a boundary portion between the first and second color filters.

    Abstract: In an IPS mode liquid crystal display device, an interlayer insulating film is formed on a common electrode formed in a planar shape, and a pixel electrode is formed on the interlayer insulating film. The distance between the TFT substrate and the counter substrate is determined by a columnar spaces. The pixel electrode includes one comb-shaped electrode and a contact part. The tip of the comb-shaped, electrode overlaps the columnar spacer as seen in a plan view. The columnar spacer is present in, the area in which an electric field that allows the liquid crystal molecules to rotate backward occurs when a voltage is applied to the pixel electrode, so that the reverse rotation of the liquid crystal molecules does not occur, and it is possible to prevent the domain from occurring.
