    摘要: An occupant support suite comprises a bed (20) an acoustic sensor (110, 110A) associated with the bed for receiving an acoustic signature (160) corresponding to a stand alone device (150) and a processor (112, 112A) for comparing the signature to a library (116) of reference signatures, and, if the comparison is satisfactory, issuing a notification (208) to the bed, to an off-bed destination (210) or to both. A related method for responding to the acoustic signature comprises receiving (200) the signature, determining if the signature compares satisfactorily (204, 206) to a reference signature and, if so, issuing a notification (208) to an occupant support, to an off-support destination (210) or to both. Another related method for responding to the acoustic signature comprises receiving the signature and causing the occupant support to undergo a change of state from an initial state causally unrelated to the defined condition to a changed state.

Depending upon a height of the patient, a lift system is operated to support the patient support deck relative to an underlying floor at different heights when the patient support deck is moved to the chair egress position. Depending upon a weight of the patient, at least one bladder of a mattress is either deflated or further inflated when the patient support deck is moved to the chair egress position and the patient is in the process of egressing from the patient support apparatus.

The bed includes a frame including at least one movable patient support section and an actuator coupled to the movable patient support section. The actuator is operable to move the movable patient support section. The bed also includes control circuitry that is coupled to the actuator to command operation of the actuator. The control circuitry ceases operation of the actuator in response to receiving a signal indicative of an unwanted condition of the at least one patient care line.

The intercorner distance is smaller in the chair egress state than in the chair state. A mattress 100 disclosed herein includes an upper body segment 102, a calf segment 116, and a medial segment 124 The lower end 106 of the upper body segment cooperates with the upper end 120 of the calf segment to define an intersegment distance. The mattress has a chair state in which the intersegment distance is a distance D1 and an egress state in which the intersegment distance is a distance D2 which is less than D1. A bed disclosed herein includes a frame whose intercorner distance is smaller in the chair egress state than in the chair state, and a mattress having a medial segment which is conformable to accommodate smaller and larger intercorner distances.
