Abstract:
A monitoring system comprises a lift assembly configured to lift a patient; a control system configured to control operation of the lift system; and a reporting system in communication with the control system and configured to receive operational information for the lift assembly. The reporting system compares the operational information to a predetermined set of values to determine if the operation of the lift is in compliance with the protocols.
Abstract:
A system to determine usage and monitor compliance of a Sequential Compression Therapy (SCT) device is disclosed. The system is configured to track the duration, amplitude and frequency of application of sequential compression therapy and communicate this information over a communication network. The system further includes sensing capability incorporated in the compression sleeve to monitor physiological signals. The system is configured to trigger an alarm if either the duration of the sequential compression therapy or the physiological signal does not meet a predetermined threshold.
Abstract:
The disclosure provides a system for DVT prevention and therapy coupled to a person support surface of a person-support apparatus. In one embodiment the system can include at least one bladder, a controller, a fluid supply unit and a valve assembly in one embodiment. The at least one bladder can be configured to provide percussion therapy or sequential compression to the lower limbs of the person supported on the person-support apparatus. The fluid supply unit can be configured to supply fluid to the at least one bladder via the valve assembly. The controller can control the opening and closing of the valve assembly depending on the pressure inside the at least one bladder. In another embodiment, the system for DVT prevention and therapy uses mechanical actuation devices to provide a mechanical stimulus to the patient's limb.
Abstract:
Pressure ulcer detection systems and related methods are disclosed. Images of a patient supported by a person support apparatus are captured and analyzed to identify areas of the patient's skin which have a color different from surrounding areas of the patient's skin by a predetermined amount. A dielectric material attached with a positively charged electrode and a negatively charged electrode is configured to be in contact with the patient's skin. Differences in electric potential between areas of skin relative to surrounding areas of skin are identified.
Abstract:
A gas supply system comprises a person-support surface, a garment, and a gas supply. The person-support surface includes a chamber configured to contain a gas therein. The garment includes a chamber configured to contain a gas therein. The gas supply is configured to supply a gas to both the garment and the person-support surface.
Abstract:
A method comprises determining a person's level of risk for developing an adverse condition; selecting a care protocol based on the level of risk; displaying a proposed configuration of a person support structure corresponding to the care protocol for a caregiver to approve; and upon approval by the caregiver, implementing the configuration.
Abstract:
A care delivery system includes a bed (20) having a bed-side interface unit (B), an appliance set (90) comprising one or more appliances (99) and two or more appliance-side interface units (A) distributed among the appliances, and a set (124) of one or more adaptors (126) each having a host interface unit (H) compatible with the bed-side interface unit, and a client interface unit (C). Each adaptor is arranged to accommodate fluid flow between its host interface unit and its client interface unit. Each client interface unit of the adaptor set, taken individually, is compatible with at least one but fewer than all of the appliance-side interface units of the appliance set and, taken collectively, are compatible with all of the appliance-side interface units of the appliance set. The system also includes an appliance annunciator (140) and an appliance discriminator (76) responsive to the annunciator thereby configuring the system for the pneumatic demands of the appliance.
Abstract:
A gas supply system comprises a person-support surface, a garment, and a gas supply. The person-support surface includes a chamber configured to contain a gas therein. The garment includes a chamber configured to contain a gas therein. The gas supply is configured to supply a gas to both the garment and the person-support surface.
Abstract:
Pathogen and chemical detection systems for use with a patient support apparatus and related methods are disclosed. A fluid or biologic sample from the vicinity of a person supported by a person support apparatus is acquired and transmitted to a pathogen detection sensor. A graphical caregiver interface is supplied output from the pathogen detection sensor and detects the presence of a chemical. The graphical caregiver interface communicates with an electronic medical records database, and alarm and a nurse call system.
Abstract:
A method for governing care of a person includes determining the importance of a candidate activity (84) relative to the importance of patient sleep continuity (104) and, if the candidate activity is more important than sleep continuity, carrying out the activity or indicating the acceptability of carrying out the activity (106) and, if the candidate activity is not more important than sleep continuity, refraining from carrying out the activity or indicating the unacceptability of carrying out the activity (108). A system for patient care governance comprises a decision engine (80) for determining the importance of the candidate activity relative to the importance of sleep continuity, and a controller (92) responsive to the decision engine for issuing a command to carry out the activity or indicate the acceptability of carrying out the activity (106), refrain from carrying out the activity or indicate the unacceptability of carrying out the activity (108).
