摘要: A method of one embodiment of the invention is disclosed that determines to output an output pixel for a color component of an image pixel. In response to determining to output the output pixel for the color component of the image pixel, the method outputs this output pixel, and at least substantially precludes output of output pixels for other color components of the image pixel.

摘要: A method of producing and using photo media to print a glossy, photo-quality image. The image is printed onto the back of a coated transparent base. Thereafter, an opaque backing is applied to cover the printed image. The resulting print is viewed from the front, which provides the photo-quality, attractive appearance primarily because of the substantial gloss depth and uniformity attributable to the transparent base. The transparent base and backing protect the ink-receiving coating and make the resulting print very durable. The image is light fast because the ink is sandwiched between the transparent base and the backing, thereby sealing the ink from oxygen. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the backing is applied as a liquid using substantially the same mechanism as used for printing the image.

摘要: A computerized method for improving ink-jet print quality. A jittered print mode is instigated to scatter print errors having a cyclic cause, viz., patterns of visibly noticeable artifacts or dot arrangements caused by mechanical misalignments and vibrations and electrical tolerance variations that are cyclic in nature. A jitter of ink droplet firing time is intentionally introduced whereby printed dot placement is offset less than a dot diameter. The jitter algorithm is adaptable to a variety of implementation schemes.

摘要: Disclosed herein is a motion monitoring system for monitoring movement of a brush-type DC motor. The system includes an electrical comparator having first and second differential inputs. A current detector is connected to provide a drive current signal to the first differential input of the comparator. A low-pass filter is connected to provide an averaged drive current signal to the second differential input of the comparator. When a drive current is applied to the motor, the comparator produces a stream of binary logic-level pulses corresponding to motor movement. The pulses can be used to determine motor position and velocity.

摘要: A halftoning method and apparatus reduces the occurrence of unaesthetic color print output associated with the different relationships found in the numeric data contained within the color data planes. The calculation, modification and distribution of error values, resulting from the mismatch between color plane values and firing thresholds, are performed in a manner that minimizes unaesthetic conditions. Error values are modified by use of error modification functions, bitmaps and matrixes. Firing decisions are based on a comparison of the modified error.

摘要: The present invention provides a method for compensating for the velocity variation in an ink-jet pen by dynamically varying the ink drop firing timing as a function of pen velocity. This makes it possible to print while the pen is accelerating or decelerating without affecting image quality. Scanning velocity change compensation is dynamically and continuously updated at a rate equal to or greater than an encoder edge rate. Further, the present invention provides a method for improving ink drop positioning accuracy across a print media scan by compensating for the change in ink-drop flight time as printhead-to-paper distance changes. Ink drop flight time error is dynamically compensated such that a fired droplet of ink hits its intended target pixel without any appreciable error.

摘要: One aspect of the present invention is a color printing system that is responsive to color information for forming images on media. The color printing system includes a determining device that determines colorant usage for a plurality of colorants. The determining device detects a balanced condition wherein colorant usage is within a nominal range and an imbalanced condition wherein colorant usage exceeds the nominal range. The color printing system also includes a colorant balancing device. The colorant balancing device responds to the imbalanced condition for altering colorant usage for compensating for the imbalanced condition.
