摘要: The system comprises a cooling garment that is intended to cool the user of the garment. In one embodiment, the cooling garment is worn under a body armor. In one embodiment, the cooling garment is worn under any other garment or in any situation or environment where the user desires a cooling effect. In one embodiment the cooling garment comprises an outer layer and an inner layer. The inner layer has a plurality of perforations that allow air to flow therethrough. The outer layer is solid, so that air is urged toward the perforations and does not exit the garment away from the user, but instead towards the user. A flexible hose is coupled between the first and second layer and extends outward from the garment. The hose terminates in a quick release coupling that allows it to be removably attached to an air source, such as from a pump or other cooling system. In one embodiment, the quick release coupling is magnetic and is detached by pulling on the coupling or by the user of the cooling garment stepping away from the connection. In one embodiment, the system is used in a vehicle with a pump coupled to the electrical system of the vehicle.

摘要: An accommodating intraocular lens implant for implantation in a human eye, including an optic adapted for coaxial alignment with a vision axis of the human eye, and at least one haptic. The haptic includes an anchor portion for receipt in one of a periphery of a capsular bag of the human eye, a cilairy sulcus of the human eye, and an angle of the anterior chamber of the human eye, and a sinuous portion extending radially from the optic and including a proximal end connected to the optic, a distal end spaced from the optic and connected to the anchor portion, and at least four curves successively connected between the proximal end and the distal end. The sinuous portion is adapted to flex upon ciliary muscle action to move the optic along the vision axis and allow the intraocular lens implant to automatically accommodate.

摘要: Learning, inference, and decision making with probabilistic user models, including considerations of preferences about outcomes under uncertainty, may be infeasible on portable devices. The subject invention provides systems and methods for pre-computing and storing policies based on offline preference assessment, learning, and reasoning about ideal actions and interactions, given a consideration of uncertainties, preferences, and/or future states of the world. Actions include ideal real-time inquiries about a state, using pre-computed value-of-information analyses. In one specific example, such pre-computation can be applied to automatically generate and distribute call-handling policies for cell phones. The methods can employ learning of Bayesian network user models for predicting whether users will attend meetings on their calendar and the cost of being interrupted by incoming calls should a meeting be attended.

摘要: One or more models of memorability are provided that facilitate various computer-based applications including those centering on the storage, retrieval, and processing of information, applications that remind people about items they risk not recalling or overlooking, and facilitating communications of reminders. In one application, the models are used to help compose and navigate large personal stores of information about a user's activities, communications, images, and other content. In another application, views of files in directories are extended with the addition of memory landmarks, and a means for controlling the number of landmarks provided via changing a threshold on inferred memorability. Another application centers on the use of models of memorability to select subsets of images from larger sets representing events, for display in a slide show or ambient photo display. In another application, a system is provided that facilitates computer-based searching for information by providing for the design and analysis of timeline visualizations in connection with displaying results to queries based at least in part on an index of content. A query is received by a query component (which can be part of search engine that provides a unified index of information a user has been exposed to). The query component parses the query into portions relevant to effecting a meaningful search in accordance with the subject invention. The query component can access and populate a data store which may include information searched for. A landmark component receives and/or accesses information from the query component as well as the data store, and anchors public and/or personal landmark events to search results-related information.

摘要: Disclosed are methods and devices of a slider form factor device including two housings. The top surface of a lower housing may include a QWERTY keypad, or a display screen of any type. The top surface of an upper housing may include a display screen. The device is configured to allow the bottom face of the upper housing to slide with respect to the top face of the lower housing until a limit of travel is reached. At the end of travel, the lower housing and the upper housing do not overlap. The upper housing drops down so that its top face is contiguous with the top face of the lower housing. Moreover, the upper housing is tilted with respect to the lower housing by a predetermined angle. In this way, the upper housing and the lower housing may abut to form substantially contiguous surfaces.

摘要: The present invention relates to a system and methodology to facilitate collaboration and communications between entities such as between automated applications, parties to a communication and/or combinations thereof. The systems and methods of the present invention include a service that supports collaboration and communication by learning predictive models that provide forecasts of one or more aspects of a users' presence and availability. Presence forecasts include a user's current or future locations at different levels of location precision and usage of different devices or applications. Availability assessments include inferences about the cost of interrupting a user in different ways and a user's current or future access to one or more communication channels. The predictive models are constructed from data collected by considering user activity and proximity from multiple devices, in addition to analysis of the content of users' calendars, the time of day, and day of week, for example. Various applications are provided that employ the presence and availability information supplied by the models in order to facilitate collaboration and communications between entities.

摘要: A system and methodology is provided for improving directory operations within a system providing an electronic hierarchical directory of items. The system includes a component which analyzes probabilities and utilities associated with determining potential target directories for storing and accessing data, and a component for building a subset of the potential target directories that are predicted to be the target directory. The probabilities and/or utilities are functions of expected navigation costs associated with traversing from a displayed directory to at least one of the potential target directories. Methods in accordance with the present invention can be coupled with displays of substructures that format the substructures into a coherent hierarchical view.

摘要: A filter element comprises a perforated metal tube on outer and inner sides of which filter layers are disposed. A plastic terminal disk 4 is disposed at an axial end of the tube and includes a metal fastening screw. A wire is embedded in the terminal disk and electrically connects the support tube with the fastening screw so that an electrical charge taken up from the liquid to be filtered is conducted away through the wire.
