摘要： According to a general aspect, a method includes maintaining rating groups, each rating group providing a rating for content compiled based on information received from a user evaluating the content. The method also includes receiving, from a first user, a selection of a first rating group, from among the rating groups, to be applied to a set of users associated with the first user. The method also includes receiving, from a user, a request for a piece of content from the content. The method also includes determining that the user from which the request was received belongs to the set of users associated with the first user. The method also includes, based upon the determination that the user belonged to the set of users associated with the first user, accessing information associated with the first rating group and determining whether the first rating group includes a rating for the requested piece of content. The method also includes determining whether or not to provide information to the requesting user conditioned on the indication or absence of a rating for the requested piece of content within the first rating group.

摘要： According to a general aspect, a method includes receiving, at a network interface device at a user location, a request from a first machine located at the user location, the request including a first-machine identifier and a request to access through the network interface device a first location on a network. The method also includes logging, at the network interface device, the request from the first machine into a first-machine log for requests from the first machine, the logging into the first-machine log being based on the first-machine identifier. The method also includes receiving at the network interface device a request from a second machine located at the user location, the request from the second machine including a second-machine identifier and a request to access through the network interface device a second location on the network, and the network interface device, the first machine, and the second machine being located at a user location. The method further includes logging, at the network interface device, the request from the second machine into a second-machine log for all requests from the second machine, the logging into the second-machine log being based on the second-machine identifier.

摘要： A local proxy in a home network may identify the device class to which a particular device in the home network belongs based on the receipt of a message requesting a network address for use by the device. A device class may include a broad category to describe the device (such as, a gaming device, a personal computer, an appliance, or a PDA), the type of platform (e.g., the type of hardware, such as a Macintosh™ personal computer, a Windows™-based personal computer, a Linux™-based personal computer, a PDA, a home appliance, or an entertainment device), and/or the operating environment (e.g., operating system type and/or version). The local proxy associates the device class with the device. The local proxy may process a request from a device in a home network based on the device class of the device that sent the request. For example, access to a game available on the home network may be restricted to a gaming device or personal computer. Access to financial information stored on the home network may be restricted by a computing device capable of processing financial information, such as a personal digital assistant or personal computer.
