Abstract:
A semi-standard threaded base lamp assembly may be formed with a substitutable optical housing. The assembly enables a standard set of components to be assembled as a threaded base lamp, but during construction any one of a variety of specialty reflector shells may be substituted in the assembly process to specialize the lamp for a particular market, need or interest.
Abstract:
A lamp includes a reflector having a passageway opening to a heel of the reflector, a lamp capsule having a lead that extends rearward through the passageway, a conductive clip that spans a diameter of the heel and that has tabs that extend forward at opposite sides of the heel and an arm that extends rearward, the arm being attached to a portion of the lead that projects out of the passageway, and a base that is attached to the heel and that engages the tabs at the opposite sides of the heel. The arm holds the lamp capsule in place and electrically connects the lamp capsule to the base. The arm may be a semi-detached central portion of the clip that is bent to be substantially parallel to an axis of the lead.
Abstract:
An electric incandescent lamp (e.g., tungsten-halogen) including a light-transmitting envelope having an internal curvilinear wall, a gas mixture within the envelope, at least two support rods extending within the envelope in a spaced-apart manner, at least one bridge member within the envelope and supported substantially between the two support rods, and an electrically conductive filament structure located within the envelope and suspended from the bridge member. At least one support member, secured to the bridge member and projecting therefrom and including a U-shaped end portion for engaging the curvilinear internal wall of the envelope, is utilized to provide both compressive and axial support for the bridge member and suspended filament structure. The support member is preferably a wireform comprised of molybdenum.

Abstract:
A lamp assembly 10 has a light source 12 having two sealed electrodes 14, 16, sealed in a seal area 17 and defining a lamp axis 18. A concave shell 20 has an internal surface 22 with a reflective surface 23 formed thereon. The concave shell 20 has a neck 24 defining a neck cavity 26 and a reflector axis 28. The neck 24 is provided with an electrical connection 30 and a mechanical support for the light source 12. The shell 20 surrounds the source 12 to reflect light from the source 12 to a field to be illuminated during lamp operation. The source 12 and the reflector surface 23 are oriented with the lamp axis 18 substantially co-axial with the reflector axis 28, and at least a portion of at least one of the electrodes, for example, 14, extends into the neck cavity 26. A zone 32 is formed in the neck cavity 26 for substantially redirecting specular reflection away from the seal area.
Abstract:
A lamp with re-enforced tubular base pins is disclosed. A less expensive, high quality, high wattage lamp may be formed with re-enforced tubular base pins. The lamp comprises a lamp envelope having an enclosed means for producing light, a light transmissive envelope, and at least two electrical connections, a ceramic lamp base for holding the lamp envelope, and the two tubular pins. Each pin comprises an electrically conductive tube having an exterior surface along which a compressive coupling may be made, and an interior surface defining an internal volume. A fill cement is positioned in the internal volume of each base pin at least along the portions opposite where compressive coupling may be made to the exterior surface of the pin.
