The present invention provides a process for making a solid antiperspirant stick comprising a particulate aluminum antiperspirant salt suspended in an anhydrous carrier vehicle, wherein said carrier vehicle comprises a high melting component which melts at 70.degree. C. or higher. This process includes heating the carrier vehicle in a closed mixing vessel to a temperature in excess of 70.degree. C. preferably in excess of 75.degree. C., to melt the high melting component, adding the antiperspirant salt to the carrier vehicle, and cooling the carrier vehicle to form a solid antiperspirant stick. The improvement of the present invention comprises cooling the carrier vehicle below 70.degree. C., preferably to about 65.degree. C. or less, but above the solidification point prior to adding the antiperspirant salt and maintaining the carrier vehicle below 70.degree. C., preferably at about 65.degree. C. or less, during and after the antiperspirant salt addition, thereby substantially preventing agglomeration of the antiperspirant salt into large particles, especially particles in excess of 60 microns.

An aqueous cleaning composition is employed in a machine for removing oil, dirt and grinding debris from a metal surface comprises a plurality of wash, rinse and dry stations separated to prevent contamination carryover from one station to the next. Razor blades in stacks are passed through the stations, the stacked blades being mounted on rods supported by a fixture and the nozzles or jets within the machine being so oriented as to cause a riffling of the blades due to water or air pressure. A purified water rinse and the aqueous cleaning solution are employed in the machine and are circulated through the stations by a flow system which provides efficient and economical usage of the cleaning solution and rinse materials.

The present invention embraces an anhydrous topical antiperspirant or deodorant composition comprising an antiperspirant or deodorant active, a dermatologically acceptable volatile silicone liquid carrier vehicle and a polyethylene homopolymer dissolved in the vehicle to serve as a thickening or solidifying agent, wherein the polyethylene homopolymer has a molecular weight of about 200 to about 800 daltons, preferably about 300 to about 600 daltons, most preferably about 400 to about 500 daltons. The composition should be substantially free of any other organic or natural waxes. The present invention also embraces a method of inhibiting or reducing perspiration or a method of inhibiting or reducing malodor by topically applying an effective amount of such an antiperspirant composition or deodorant composition to the skin.
