The invention relates to a yarn supply device group for attaching to a textile machine, in particular a ring knitting machine with electrically controllable switching and actuating devices in every supply device which are connected in a signal-transmitting circuit by a bunch of lines common to all supply devices to a central control mechanism. Previously, every supply device in the group had to be "marked" manually prior to the start of operation. In addition, a bunch of lines with large dimensions was necessary, since each supply device needed at least one separate line. In the invention, manual "marking" is not needed, since in each supply device an electronic switching arrangement which contains a writable and readable memory is associated with the switching or actuating devices, can be supplied with an individual address from the central control mechanism, and after having been supplied the address can be controlled addresslike, and for connection of the supply device to the central control mechanism a small-dimensioned bunch of lines can be provided since the switching arrangements of all supply devices are connected in the same manner to the bunch of lines.

The present invention provides a method and apparatus which enables thread to be wound onto the motor driven storage drum of a thread storage and feeding device for a thread processing machine strictly continuously and uniformly with the aim of ensuring that the thread as wound off the thread supply bobbin is wound onto the storage drum in such a way that variations in the tension of the thread as pulled off the storage drum are eliminated. This is achieved by controlling the number of revolutions of the motor in response to a control signal which is derived from the thread intermediate supply on the drum and the actual thread consumption, i.e., the average speed of the thread leaving the drum.

A drive device for a weaving machine has a motor control unit connected to an asynchronous motor. An electric supply network supplies the motor control unit with electric power which the motor control unit converts to have a substantially higher frequency. This higher frequency power is then supplied to the asynchronous motor causing the motor to operate at a high r.p.m. A speed reducing unit is connected between the motor and a drive shaft of the weaving machine. The speed reducing unit reduces the r.p.m. of the motor and the motor drives the weaving machine via the drive shaft at the r.p.m. of the weaving machine.

An embodiment of the present invention discloses an apparatus for recyclable absorption of electric retardation energy from a multiple axis industrial robotics system, including a robot control unit and at least one drive unit which at retardation generates the retardation energy. By an apparatus according to the present invention, the electric retardation energy, which occurs when a drive unit is retarded and is transferred into generator mode, may be recycled by that the brake unit of the apparatus, and the to the brake unit connected mechanical devices, are accelerated. The electric retardation energy is thus transferred into kinetic energy which may be stored in the mechanical devices. An embodiment of the present invention also refers to a corresponding method for recyclable absorption of electric retardation energy from a multiple axis industrial robotics system.

The arrival sensor and at least one yarn sensor are connected to a surveillance circuit measuring the period of time lapsed since releasing a stopping device and periodically correcting the measured period of time on the basis of the yarn sensor signal. The surveillance circuit only generates a signal indicating the completion of the weft yarn insertion if the following two conditions are simultaneously fulfilled: The measured period of time exceeds a predetermined period of time between 80% and 99.5% of the period of time required for a complete weft yarn insertion cycle, and the arrival sensor generates a signal representing the arrival of the weft yarn.
