摘要： A lighting system and method for broadcasting colored lights as emergency warning signals from a light source. A centralized continuous light source is coupled via a fiber optic transmission medium to an external display location such as a lens or the like located on a vehicle. The color and the relative intensity of each color is periodically modulated to alternate between at least two states such that the contrast between these alternating states is perceived by observers to be a flashing source of light with no off-time. The frequency and the duty cycle of the repetition rate of alternating between the states may be further controlled to better draw attention to the light source.

摘要： A warning system for alerting a person to an emergency situation which includes a transmitter responsive to a visual or acoustic alerting system for transmitting an alarm signal on an RF carrier and a control signal on a sideband of the carrier. A tuneable receiver for receiving commercial broadcasts in a normal operating mode transfers to an emergency mode upon detection of the control signal and converts the alarm signal to an acoustic signal. In one embodiment, the visual or acoustic alerting system is a siren and light system of an emergency vehicle. In this embodiment, a transceiver is preferably included for dedicated communications among emergency vehicles. The range of both the transmitter and transceiver complement and are substantially the same as the effective range of the visual or acoustic alerting system.

摘要： A heat seal bar used in a plastic film packaging machine for cutting and sealing plastic films about wrapped products is provided with an insert having sealing surfaces and a knife cutting edge which is removably mounted to the seal bar. A first rectangular portion of the insert is adapted to be received within an elongate slot formed in a bottom surface of the seal bar for mounting the insert to the bar with screws. A second portion of semicircular cross section extends along the bottom of the first portion and thereby projects downwardly from the seal bar. A knife blade detachably mounted in the insert has a cutting edge extending below the seal bar. The cutting edge is defined by a pair of converging knife surfaces formed on the knife blade. Convex surfaces of the second portion formed respectively on opposite sides of the knife define the sealing surfaces.

摘要： The baiting device of the present invention acts to provide a device for exposing ants or other crawling insects to bait without allowing the bait to become dampened or blown away and while protecting small animals or children from eating the bait. The preferred ant bait or insect killer is placed within the sealed container. The lid of the container is locked into place by a fastener to a cap on top of the pipe so that the lid is not easily removed by animals or children. The baiting device is then stuck into the ground like a stake near the ant bed under attack. Because there is an open airway through the pipe to the bait within the container, the bait may be smelled by ants and other insects which may enter the container and remove bait through the holes in the pipe. The bait is protected within the container from exposure to the weather and other outside forces, as well as being sealed away from pets and children. In the preferred embodiment the level of bait remaining in the device may be monitored through the clear sides of the container.
