    摘要: The acoustic signal transmission includes electrically synthesizing an audible sound signal and an insertion signal to generate a synthesized sound electrical signal at the sending side, transmitting the synthesized sound electrical signal, and extracting the insertion signal form the synthesized sound electrical signal at the receiving side. The extracted signal may be used for controlling machines or for transmitting information. The acoustic signal represented by the synthesized sound electrical signal can be heard by human ears in the same way as the audible sound signal, while the synthesized insertion signal cannot be detected by human ears. The synthesized sound electrical signal can be transmitted as a sound wave in air space, as electrical signals through a transmission line or as radio signals such as infrared and electromagnetic waves. The synthesized sounds may also be transported or distributed by recording on recording media such as compact disc and DVD.

The method includes generating a synchronization pattern with good randomness properties; packing a signal for transmission with m headers, each header consisting of the synchronization pattern 1/m symbol-time shifted from the previous header; and transmitting the signal. A further method provides for the sampling the transmitted signal with m headers of symbol-time shifted synchronization patterns; and determining symbol timing offset by computing and reordering correlation peaks from the synchronization patterns. A system includes a transmitting system, a receiving system, and a data channel. The transmitted signal includes m headers with 1/m symbol-time shifted synchronization patterns. The receiving system undersamples the transmitted signal with m synchronization patterns to simulate an oversampled synchronization pattern.

Through this method, an individual requesting the broadcast will hear a signal loop of the audio, starting with the detection of the start signal and ending when the detection of the stop signal.

    摘要: A system for decoding data, such as travel and traffic information, configured in data blocks embedded in an electromagnetic signal, such as a broadcasted radio signal, has been developed. The system includes a method and receiver for decoding the data with a background tuner in a manner that does not impair the ability of the background tuner to demodulate other signals. While a main tuner is tuned to demodulate a first electromagnetic signal to produce a data stream, the background tuner is switched to decode the data blocks only when the data blocks are expected to be received. In the remaining time, the background tuner is free to demodulate other signals to support a diversity or other function. If a data block is not received, or not received when expected, the background tuner returns to demodulating one or more other frequencies after a predetermined time interval has elapsed.

    摘要: A communication system for coupling telephony or other signals to a broadband network such as a CATV network. The system transmits a multiplex of telephony signals in the forward band of the broadband network, with individual signals directed to an addressed subscriber. Telephony signals returning from subscribers upstream to a headend unit (HIU) are modulated onto the reverse band of the broadband network in a frequency division multiple access (FDMA) arrangement. The upstream modulated telephony signals are received at a telephony network interface at the HIU coupled to the broadband network. A group of reverse band modulated telephony signals are received at a group receiver or channelizer. The group receiver processes all upstream telephony signals within a selected spectral subband in the reverse band to apply a receiver matched filter with a weighted overlap and add circuit, and are then converted to baseband by an FFT circuit. The group receiver provides a serial data stream representing the baseband telephony signals. The baseband telephony signals are processed to derive demodulated telephony signals. The demodulated telephony signals are coupled to the telephony network.
