The control procedure includes: communicating data blocks between user equipment and a network infrastructure over a physical High Speed Uplink Packet Access channel; communicating block acknowledgement messages between the user equipment and the network infrastructure, each block acknowledgement message indicating whether or not a data block was received successfully; and controlling transmission power of the physical HSUPA channel on the basis of at least one block acknowledgement message.

In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a module configured to transmit a data transmission on the uplink data channel, and an uplink scheduling and signal generating module configured to select random access parameters for a random access procedure and schedule the data transmission using the random access parameters for the random access procedure. The uplink scheduling and signal generating module is also configured to interrupt the data transmission after a predetermined time interval if the apparatus does not receive a permission signal from a network element during the predetermined time interval.

    摘要: A method for minimizing the loss of data and ensuring that large delays do not occur during reconfigurations of an uplink transmission time interval (TTI) length of a WCDMA High Speed Packet Uplink Access (HSUPA) air interface, wherein the reconfiguration of an uplink TTI length is delayed until all pending retransmissions are successfully transmitted or until the maximum number of transmissions is reached. The transmission of new packets during this time period is prevented. However, pending retransmissions are allowed to occur. After the UE has received an ACK/NACK for each HARQ process, or until the specific maximum number of re-transmissions is reached, the UE starts transmitting with a new uplink TTI length.

The timer counts transmission time intervals and is reset each time that the user equipment receives a data packet. If the timer reaches a set value, indicating a sufficiently long period of inactivity, then the transmission sequence number is reset to zero or another predefined value. A base station can run a similar timer and, after the timer reaches a set value, can consider the user equipment as no longer being active.
