摘要: A method of preparing high density particulate slurries is provided whereby slurries containing in excess of 23 pounds of particulate per gallon of fluid can be introduced into a subterranean formation. In accordance with the method, a viscosified pad fluid is introduced into a wellbore to create a filter cake in a desired zone within a subterranean formation. The high density slurry then is introduced into the formation to substantially fill any annular space present without significant settling. This permits the coating of the entire exterior surface of highly deviated casing exposed within a wellbore.

摘要: The present invention provides a method of controlling fluid loss to a permeable formation penetrated by a wellbore. A novel fluid loss agent is prepared by forming a crosslinked polymer gel which then is sheared to break the gel into discrete particles of a particular size range. A slurry then is formed of the particles by dispersing the particles in an aqueous fluid having a density similar to that of the gel particles. The slurry then is introduced into contact with the permeable formation and a filter cake of the particles is formed upon contact with the formation and loss of the slurrying fluid to the formation. The filter cake provides further fluid loss control to the permeable formation.

摘要: Methods of using water-soluble hydrophobically modified polymers to treat intervals of a subterranean formation having variable permeabilities. An exemplary embodiment provides a method of treating an interval of a subterranean formation having a permeability that varies. The method comprises contacting the interval with a water-soluble hydrophobically modified polymer capable of selectively reducing the effective permeability of the interval to water without a comparable reduction of the effective permeability of the interval to hydrocarbons. The hydrophobically modified polymer modifies the interval to have a more uniform permeability without substantially preventing the flow of fluids through the interval. The method further comprises introducing a treatment fluid into the interval. The more uniform permeability of the interval allows for a more uniform treatment of the interval by the treatment fluid than would be allowed without treatment of the interval with the hydrophobically modified polymer.

摘要: Methods and compositions for forming permeable cement sand screens in well bores are provided. The compositions are basically comprised of a hydraulic cement, an acid soluble particulate solid, a liquid hydrocarbon solvent soluble particulate solid, a particulate cross-linked gel containing an internal breaker which after time causes the gel to break into a liquid, water present in an amount sufficient to form a slurry, a gas present in an amount sufficient to form a foam and a mixture of foaming and foamed stabilizing surfactants.

摘要: Fracturing, frac-pack, and gravel packing procedures are provided which utilize a treating composition comprising a carrier fluid and a particulate blend. The particulate blend consists essentially of a large particulate material and a small particulate material. The large particulate material consists essentially of particles smaller than about 4 mesh but not smaller than about 40 mesh. The small particulate material consists essentially of particles smaller than about 16 mesh but not smaller than about 100 mesh. The small particulate material is present in the particulate blend in an amount in the range of from about 5% to about 60% by weight based on the amount of the large particulate material present in the particulate blend. A prepacked screening device including a large particulate/small particulate blend of the type just described is also provided.
