摘要: Energy may be stored by injecting fluid into a fracture in the earth and producing the fluid back while recovering power and/or desalinating water. The method may be particularly adapted to storage of large amounts of energy such as in grid-scale electric energy systems. The fracture may be formed and treated with resin so as to limit fluid loss and to increase propagation pressure. The fluid may be water containing a dissolved salt or fresh water and a portion or all of the water may be desalinated using pressure in the water when it is produced.

摘要: Treating a subterranean formation with a composition including a maleic anhydride copolymer, an amine crosslinker, and a gelling agent. The maleic anhydride copolymer includes first repeat units I and II and at least one of second repeat units III and IV: where each R1 is independently —H, —O(C1-C5) alkyl, or —(C1-C5) alkyl; each R2 is independently —H, —O(C1-C5) alkyl, or —(C1-C5) alkyl; each R3 is independently —OH or —O−M1, each M1 is independently an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal, an ammonium ion, or a quaternary ammonium ion; and each R4 is independently —NH2 or —OM1. The gelling agent includes at least one of: a calcium chelating agent, a calcium precipitating agent, a pH buffer, an agent reactive with hydroxide, and an acid generating agent, and promotes formation of a gel from the maleic anhydride copolymer and the amine crosslinker in contact with set cement.

摘要: A method is provided for improved degradation of metal-crosslinked polymer gels, which are useful in oil and gas treating operations. In this method a polysaccharide having a higher degree of substitution than the polymer in the polymer gel is added to the gel. The polysaccharide removes the crosslinking metal ion from the gel to thus break down the gel and reduce its viscosity.

摘要: Crosslinked polymer additives that may be used as thinners and/or deflocculants in subterranean treatment fluids are provided. In one embodiment, the methods comprise: providing a treatment fluid comprising an aqueous base fluid, a viscosifying agent, and a crosslinked synthetic polymer that comprises a copolymer of at least a first monomer comprising 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid or any salt thereof, and a second monomer comprising an N-vinyl amide, and at least one crosslinking agent, wherein the average molecular weight of the crosslinked synthetic polymer is less than about 3,000,000 grams per mole; and introducing the treatment fluid into at least a portion of a well bore penetrating at least a portion of a subterranean formation.

摘要: Various embodiments disclosed relate to a composition including a crosslinkable ampholyte polymer or a crosslinked product of the same, methods of making and using the composition, and systems including the composition. In various embodiments, the present invention provides a method of treating a subterranean formation. The method can include obtaining or providing a composition including a crosslinkable ampholyte polymer. The crosslinkable ampholyte polymer can include an ethylene repeating unit including a —C(O)NH2 group, an ethylene repeating unit including a —S(O)2OR1 group, and an ethylene repeating unit comprising an —N+R23X− group. At each occurrence, R1 can be independently selected from the group consisting of —H and a counterion. At each occurrence, R2 can be independently substituted or unsubstituted (C1-C20)hydrocarbyl. At each occurrence, X− can be independently a counterion. The composition can also include at least one crosslinker. The method can include placing the composition in a subterranean formation.

摘要: A method of electrically logging a section of a wellbore includes circulating a wellbore fluid within the wellbore, the wellbore fluid including a base fluid; and a crosslinked and branched polymeric fluid loss control agent formed from at least an acrylamide monomer and a sulfonated anionic monomer; wherein the fluid loss control agent has an extent of crosslinking that is selected so that the fluid loss control agent has a viscosity that is within a peak viscosity response of the viscosity response curve; placing within the wellbore a wellbore logging tool capable of applying an electrical current to the wellbore; applying electrical current from the logging tool; and collecting an electrical log of the portion of the wellbore that has had electrical current applied thereto.

A wellbore fluid includes a crosslinkable polymer prepared by a redox reaction with vinyl phosphonic acid monomers or polymers and hydroxyethyl cellulose; at least one of a hydrolysable in-situ acid generator, a chelating agent, and mixtures thereof; a carrier fluid comprising a brine; and a metal crosslinker.
