The composition comprises a polycarbonate and refractive index compatible polymer particles such as crosslinked polystyrene. A fire-resistant polyestercarbonate composition comprises a polyestercarbonate polymer, a polycarbonate polymer, and a salt based flame retardant. The polyestercarbonate polymer comprises a polycarbonate unit and a polyester unit, the polyester unit derived from the reaction of isophthalic acid, terephthalic acid, and resorcinol. The composition can achieve UL94 V0 performance at 0.71 mm thickness. The composition can also maintain physical, mechanical, and processing properties with high loadings of TiO2.

A fire-resistant copolyestercarbonate composition is provided comprising a salt-based flame retardant; and a copolyestercarbonate comprising a polycarbonate unit and a polyester unit, the polyester unit derived from the reaction of isophthalic acid, terephthalic acid, and resorcinol, the copolyestercarbonate containing from about 10 mole percent to 99.9 mole percent of the polyester unit. The composition also has improved scratch resistance and may be transparent.

The composition comprises an effective amount of a polycarbonate, an impact modifier, and a pentraerythritol diphosphite derivative represented by formula (P-1): wherein m is an integer and 1≦m≦5; n is an integer and 1≦n≦5; and each of R1 and R2 is independently selected from the group consisting of arylalkyl, alkylarylalkyl, aryl, alkylaryl, and any combination thereof.

Methods of forming polycarbonate graft copolymers are provided. In particular, a polycarbonate polymer or copolymer containing allyl groups provides the backbone for the graft copolymer, and pendant chains are attached to the copolymer through the allyl groups. The graft copolymers exhibit a combination of high transparency, good graft levels, good scratch resistance, and/or good anti-fog properties.

A light diffusing film for a back light display is described. The light diffusing film includes a unitary film consisting essentially of polycarbonate and a uniformly dispersed anti-static material in an amount sufficient to impart anti-static properties to the film. The anti-static material may comprise a fluorinated phosphonium sulfonate. The film may additionally include at least one textured surface for the low scattering of light. Alternatively, the film may additionally include a uniformly dispersed acrylic bulk scattering additive of particles having a mean particle size of from about 3 to about 10 microns and present in an amount from about 2 to about 7 percent by weight percent for the high scattering of light.
