摘要: An optical system includes an extended illumination source configured to emit light from an extended emission surface thereof and a light redirecting layer disposed on the extended emission surface. The light redirecting layer has a structured major surface that includes a regular array of light redirecting structures, each light redirecting structure including a plurality of facets; and a plurality of discrete spaced apart window segments. The optical system includes a plurality of reflective segments where each reflective segment is disposed on a corresponding window segment. For substantially normally incident light, each reflective segment has a total: average optical reflectance of at least 30% in a visible wavelength range extending from about 420 nm to about 650 nm; and optical transmittance of at least 10% for at least one infrared wavelength in an infrared wavelength range extending from about 800 nm to about 1200 nm.

摘要: Optical or light diffusers (or, simply, “diffusers”) designed and manufactured to include numerous facets randomly arranged in cells or sets on the diffuser outer (or front) surface in which the planar faces or outward-facing surfaces have orientations and transmission angles (as may be defined by direction cosines of normal) to redirect received light to a region or portion of a predefined light distribution. The diffusers are optically designed to produce a user-specified distribution of light. The diffusers can be engineered through the configuration of the facets on its (light transmission surface to produce nearly any type of light distribution or shape, and the diffuser design facilitates their manufacture using extrusion processes as well as other fabrication techniques.

摘要: A light redirecting film includes a first layer disposed on a second layer with structured major surfaces of the first and second layers facing each other. An optically reflective layer or a metal layer is disposed between the first and second layers. The first layer can be a hot melt adhesive layer and the second layer can be a polymeric layer. The first and second layers can be unitary layers. The first layer can be a first polymeric layer having a softening temperature T1 and the second layer can be a second polymeric layer having a softening temperature T2 greater than T1. Heating and/or applying pressure to the film changes an optical characteristic of the film by less than about 5%.

摘要: The present invention discloses an optical assembly. The optical assembly comprises: a first optical film comprising a first surface; an adhesive disposed on the first surface of the first optical film; and a second optical film comprising a second surface, wherein the second surface of the second optical film comprises a plurality of microstructures, wherein the plurality of microstructures are bonded to the adhesive; wherein the adhesive is made of a first material and the plurality of microstructures are made of a second material, wherein the hydrophilic/hydrophobic characteristic of the first material is configured with respect to the hydrophilic/hydrophobic characteristic of the second material such that the adhesive force between the adhesive and the plurality of microstructures of the second optical film is greater than 100 g/25 mm and the optical gain of the optical assembly is greater than 1.5.

摘要: A light converting optical system employing a planar light trapping optical structure illuminated by a monochromatic light source. The light trapping optical structure includes a photoresponsive layer including semiconductor quantum dots. The photoresponsive layer is configured at a relatively low thickness and located between opposing broad-area surfaces that confine and redistribute light within the structure and cause multiple transverse propagation of unabsorbed light through the photoresponsive layer to enhance absorption. The light trapping optical structure further incorporates various microstructured surfaces including light-distributing to surface relief features such as linear microlenses, prismatic surface relief features and/or linear grooves.

The projector is configured to generate projection light beams in accordance with a to-be-projected image, so as to form a real image of the to-be-projected image at a light-entering surface of the diffuser. The diffuser is configured to expand the light beams and transmit the expanded light beams to the imaging plate. The imaging plate is configured to converge the expanded light beams into an imaging light beam, and transmit the imaging light beam to an interior of a vehicle through a front windshield of the vehicle, so as to form a virtual image of the to-be-projected image on a reverse extension line of the imaging light beam outside the vehicle.
