    Abstract: An image forming system includes image forming means for forming toner images on toner receiving resin layers of respective sides of a recording material; fixing means for heat fixing the toner images on the recording material in a fixing nip; and smoothing means for smoothing the toner receiving resin layers of the recording material having the toner images formed by the fixing means; wherein the system is operable in an image formation mode in which the toner images formed on the respective sides of the recording material are fixed by the fixing means sequentially, and then the toner receiving resin layers of the recording material are smoothed by the smoothing means sequentially.

    Abstract: A recording material has toner reception layers on both surfaces of a base. The toner reception layers have glass transition temperatures in the range of 40 to 80° C. One of the toner reception layers that is to be smoothed prior to the other toner reception layer has a higher glass transition temperature than the other toner reception layer. The toner reception layer having a lower glass transition temperature is smoothed at a higher speed than the other toner reception layer.
