    Abstract: In order to counteract the image jitter caused by vibrations of the platform on which a viewing instrument is being held, a reflector surface on the optic path within the instrument case is rotated by the combined shaft output of a precessing gyro and viscous dampener. In accordance with gyroscopic action the spin axis is perpendicular to the precession shaft and also to the axis about which the image is to be stabilized. Dampening is set to rotate the reflector in proportion to gyro precession.

    Abstract: In stepping and synchronous inductor motors, rotor poles, which partially overlap stator poles at the usual annular working air gap, are successively coerced by magnetic fluxes emanating from stator windings disposed in line with the machine axis and between iron pieces. Magnetomotive vectors rotate around and reciprocate along the axis. Novel arrangements of iron pieces and their pole configurations aggregate classic reaction forces around the air gap periphery. Power is supplied by pulse trains or single and polyphase alternating current.

    Abstract: As a gyroscope is made to precess back and forth across a certain point; a servo, torquing about the axis causing precession, can stabilize the member containing the precession axis by maintaining the gyroscope at that point. In the subject invention, a signal generator measuring gyro movement on the precession axis, energizes the servo at the hinge between the member and its support toward the base and thus stabilizes said member against accidental oscillation of said support. After adding to the precession axis a velocity sensitive means for restraining gyro motion along with means for displacing the signal generator null, the servo will torque, and henceforth stabilize, the member to a new attitude signified by the angular displacement of the null. Momentum of the gyro wheel remembers its position in space and will return the member to its original null. In this manner, up to three orthogonally servoed robot arms may be space stabilized with attitude changes commanded remotely.

    Abstract: Duplicate mirrors stabilizing both axes in a binocular are coupled together through spring ribbons which enable their combined inertia to be driven by a relatively small gyroscope without hesitation or overshoot. Dimensions, material, treatment, and surface coatings for these spring ribbon couplings are engineered to coact with the mirror pivot supports, with the drive crank from the gyroscope, and with each other in a manner to repel visible vibration.
