摘要: An electrohydrodynamic spraying or spinning deposition system, which includes a common source of pressurized liquid within a manifold, and an array of 2 or more spraying tips, each tip being fed from the common source of pressurized liquid to create a liquid flow path. An individual flow impedance device is disposed within each tip's individual liquid flow path from the pressurized liquid source into each spraying tip. The individual flow impedance devices are disposed within a replaceable sheet, which can be easily cleaned or changed to accommodate the instance liquid viscosity and composition. A high voltage source is applied to create a high voltage potential applied between the tip array and a deposition surface.

摘要: A code reader and method which is capable of reading "black-on-black" codes such as bar codes which are molded in the surface of an object. The code is illuminated so as to provide light-to-shadow transitions which are read by an imaging device such as a video camera. The resultant video signal transitions representing light-to-dark transitions are differentiated and converted to a train of pulses which are submitted to a delay line sequencing network to develop a series of timing signals. These timing signals are utilized to operate a sampling network to derive 0-bit and 1-bit code information which is submitted serially to a serial-to-parallel shift register to permit code reading by a microcomputer function. Legality checks are carried out with respect to sampling and the developed work and quiescent zones are developed with respect to the start and stop of a given code sequence.

摘要: A system for providing edge connection to printed circuit boards and the like avoids prior art problems of insertion force and contact wear by employing a connector comprising two mutually-pivotable arms having protrusions at their distal ends which are separable in response to the insertion therebetween of a board to separate spring contact sections wherebetween the board can be passed without friction, the protrusions falling into a void in the board at the end of the insertion process to allow the spring contacts to impinge upon contact pads on the board, and the system operating in the reverse manner for the removal of a board.

摘要: A method comprises introducing a fluid composition into one or more electrically insulating emitters, and applying voltage to the fluid to cause ejection of the solvent from the fluid after it exits the emitter. The fluid composition comprises first material having a dielectric constant greater than ˜25 and polymer mixed into liquid solvent having a dielectric constant less than ˜15, or polymer mixed into solvent having a dielectric constant greater than ˜8. Voltage can be applied to the fluid composition via a conductive electrode immersed in the fluid, or positioned outside and adjacent to the emitters. Conductivity of the fluid composition can be less than ˜100 μS/cm. A composition of matter comprises nanofibers formed by the method.

摘要: A first method comprises: dissolving a polymer in a terpene, terpenoid, or aromatic solvent to form a polymer solution; dissolving a salt in a polar organic solvent to form a salt solution; and mixing the salt solution and the polymer solution to form a mixture. The salt and the polar organic solvent do not cause substantial precipitation of the polymer upon mixing with the polymer solution. A resulting terpene, terpenoid, or aromatic solvent phase of the mixture is suitable for forming fibers by electric-field-driven spinning from one or more spinning tips onto a target substrate. A composition comprises the terpene, terpenoid, or aromatic solvent phase of the mixture resulting from the method. A second method comprises forming fibers by electric-field-driven spinning of the first composition from one or more spinning tips onto a target substrate. A second composition comprises the fibers formed by the second method.

摘要: The disclosure generally relates to a method of producing a handleable wafer of medicament powder (for example, aspirin powder) by utilizing a restraining envelope of fine water-soluble fibers, which are, upon use, quickly dissolved by bodily fluids. Such wafer would quickly provide sublingual or buccal cavity medications without significant excipients. Additional applications for such a wafer is in the prompt provision of a variety of medicaments to selected moist areas, such as, surgery or trauma sites, such as, a wound dressing.

摘要: Method for identifying an object having a surface of a given color associates a colored zone with the surface of the object. The zone is machine readably contrasting in color compared to the surface color. The colored zone is ablatively imaging to produce one or more of machine readable images, human readable images, or graphics. The contrast in color between the colored zone and the surface is machine readable. Advantageously, at least two colored zones are associated with the object to be identified. One or more of these colored zones can be ablatively marked. One or more of these colored zones also can be used to sort and/or identify the object by color.

摘要: The present invention is directed to a system for marking objects for their identification. The inventive system includes a laser that emits a select band of radiation and a coating system for application to an object or workpiece to be marked. The coating system is composed of two contrasting coats of paint, a topcoat and a basecoat, which have been coated sequentially on the workpiece. The topcoat, while still wet, can be ablated by the beam of said laser while the basecoat, while wet, dry or tacky, is refractory to the beam of said laser. The laser, thus, can generate alphanumeric and graphic characters (product identification indicia) on the workpiece by its beam being directed onto the coating system for ablating the topcoat to reveal the basecoat to generate the characters by dint of the visible contrast between the two coats of paint.
