摘要: Methods for dividing resources of base stations among multiple mobile stations are provided. According to one embodiment of the invention, an overlapping group having a plurality of mobile stations that are overlapped between at least two cellular areas are generated (310) to provide a plurality of overlapping mobile stations, which are ranked (320) based, at least in part, on at least one threshold. A maximum number of the plurality of overlapping mobile stations having a highest ranking that can be assigned with reserved frequency and timing assignments are selected (322) to provide a plurality of selected overlapping mobile stations. These selected overlapping mobile stations are assigned (324) using the reserved frequency and timing assignments.

摘要: A system includes a base station transceiver to provide wireless service to a wireless coverage area, determine a low coverage region of the wireless coverage area, and generate incremental redundant transmissions comprising initial transmissions and subsequent transmissions to be transmitted. A smart antenna transmits the initial transmissions according to wide beam width smart antenna settings, and points at the low coverage region when transmitting the subsequent transmissions. The first transmissions and the second transmissions are transmitted on at least one of: a dedicated channel without fast feedback Automatic Request for Retransmission (“ARQ”), and a channel having negative acknowledgment (“NAK”) feedback.

摘要: A communication device [400] includes a transceiver [405] to receive and transmit data. A message detection element [410] detects at least a first message and a second message in the data received by the transceiver [405]. A processor [400] modifies a state of the communication device [400] based on the first message and the second message. A positive acknowledgement is transmitted in response to the first message comprising a call pending message, and the state is modified to establish a session and inhibit an alerting of a user of the communication device. The state is modified to alert the user of the communication device [400] in response to the second message comprising a call start message.

摘要: A network entity and method for eliminating ranging collisions for a group call in a communication network includes a step 300 of provisioning a pre-established rule for all members of a group, the rule including a common random number generator seed. A next step 302 includes initiating a group communication to subscriber units belonging to a group. A next step 304 includes generating a list of unique ranging codes for the members of the group using the common seed. A next step 306 includes each member of the group transmitting on its unique ranging code.

摘要: Disclosed is a method for providing power control using idle-mode user equipment attached to a cell in a wireless communication system. First and second higher power level thresholds for signal transmissions of a cell are defined, wherein the first power level has a defined offset higher than a minimum required power level, and wherein the first and second power level thresholds define an operating power band therebetween. The user equipment measures a signal transmission power level. If the idle-mode user equipment determines that the signal transmission power level falls outside of the operating power band, then a message is sent to affect a change in signal transmission power level.

摘要: The present invention provides a system and method for managing localized, event-generated overload of a communication network. A first step (400) includes receiving input indicative of a status change of an event in a sports stadium. A next step (402) includes generating an output to the communication network indicating that loading of the communication could be increasing in response to the status change. A next step (404) includes predicting an increased load due to the status change and comparing (406) this against a threshold. A next step (408) includes modifying the services available in geographic proximity to the event for a predetermined period in order to accommodate the increased load due to the status change.
